Job description
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Sand Blaster / Deburr Technician to join our aerospace manufacturing team. This position is responsible for preparing precision-machined components through abrasive blasting, deburring, and surface finishing to ensure parts meet customer specifications and aerospace quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience working with close-tolerance metal components and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
Essential Responsibilities- Perform sand blasting, bead blasting, and surface preparation on aerospace components.
- Deburr machined parts using hand tools, pneumatic tools, grinders, files, and rotary equipment.
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections while maintaining critical dimensions and tolerances.
- Visually inspect parts before and after processing to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and manufacturing travelers.
- Utilize measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify part conformance.
- Maintain clean, organized blasting equipment and work areas while following all safety procedures.
- Identify non-conforming parts and communicate quality concerns to supervisors or Quality personnel.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist in other production areas as needed.
- 2+ years of experience in sand blasting, deburring, or metal finishing within a manufacturing environment.
- Aerospace manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and other aerospace alloys.
- Ability to read blueprints and follow detailed work instructions.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments, including calipers and micrometers.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work on high-precision components.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced production environment.
- Experience with glass bead blasting, aluminum oxide blasting, or similar abrasive media.
- Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards.
- Experience handling close-tolerance aerospace components.
- Familiarity with FOD (Foreign Object Debris) prevention and clean manufacturing practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators, safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves.
- Manual dexterity to safely handle precision components and finishing tools.
