Responsible for the planning, organizing, motivating and coordinating of nursing personnel in the nursing department to the end that all residents receive high quality nursing care by staff under the supervision of the Director of Nursing (DON). The DON will direct all nursing services provided to residents of the facility. This includes the development and daily functioning, nursing care, staff training, communication with other departments and coordination with the medical staff. Additional responsibilities include the development of the departmental budget and the development of nursing philosophies, objectives, policies and procedures that potentially will enhance the functioning of the department within the overall organization.
