Job description

About This Job Join our dedicated team as a Pharmacist PRN, where you play a vital role in patient care and medication safety. This position offers the flexibility to contribute your expertise on an as-needed basis, supporting our mission to deliver high-quality healthcare. You ensure patients receive optimal pharmacotherapy, provide essential guidance, and maintain the highest standards of pharmacy practice. Your work directly impacts patient outcomes and enhances our healthcare services. Job Duties and Responsibilities As a Pharmacist PRN, you perform critical functions that safeguard patient health and uphold pharmacy excellence. You: Dispenses medications accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper labeling and packaging.Counsels patients on medication use, potential side effects, and adherence, promoting understanding and compliance.Verifies prescriptions for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness, identifying and resolving potential issues.Conducts Drug Utilization Reviews (DUR) to evaluate medication appropriateness, detect potential adverse drug reactions, and optimize therapy.Applies principles of Pharmacotherapy to assess patient needs and recommend evidence-based medication regimens.Ensures strict adherence to all federal, state, and local Pharmacy Law and regulations.Provides accurate and timely Drug Information to healthcare professionals and patients.Utilizes Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems effectively for documentation, order entry, and patient information retrieval.Prepares Sterile Compounding products safely and precisely, following established protocols and aseptic techniques.Administers Immunization to patients as authorized and trained, contributing to public health initiatives.Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to optimize patient care plans.Maintains accurate inventory control and manages medication stock to prevent shortages or waste.Participates in quality improvement initiatives and contributes to the development of pharmacy policies and procedures. Required Qualifications Education Possesses a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution. Experience Holds an active and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of practice.Demonstrates at least one year of experience in a clinical or retail pharmacy setting. Knowledge/Skills Possesses a strong understanding of Medication Dispensing principles and practices.Exhibits excellent Patient Counseling and communication skills.Applies thorough knowledge of Prescription Verification processes.Performs comprehensive Drug Utilization Review (DUR).Demonstrates expertise in Pharmacotherapy and clinical application.Maintains in-depth knowledge of Pharmacy Law and regulatory compliance.Provides accurate and reliable Drug Information.Proficiently navigates and utilizes Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.Applies knowledge of Sterile Compounding techniques and safety standards.Competent in Immunization administration protocols.Exhibits strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.Works effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Preferred Qualifications Holds Board Certification in a pharmacy specialty (e.g., BCPS, BCOP).Possesses prior experience in an acute care hospital setting.Demonstrates experience with advanced pharmacy technology and automation. Physical Requirements/Work Conditions Stands and walks for extended periods during shifts.Lifts and carries up to 25 pounds occasionally.Performs fine motor skills for medication preparation and computer use.Works in an environment that may involve exposure to hazardous materials (e.g., chemotherapy, sterile products) with appropriate safety measures.Adapts to varied work schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed for PRN coverage.
