Job description
A fast-growing manufacturing company is seeking a Robotic Machine Operator to program, set up, and operate computerized part-marking equipment and a KUKA robotic system. This position is responsible for applying accurate identification and traceability markings to manufactured components according to work orders, blueprints, customer specifications, and quality requirements. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable working with Windows-based software, and experienced in a manufacturing or machine-shop environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and a commitment to maintaining accurate part identification throughout the production process.

Location: Houston, TX 77035
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire
Schedule: Day shift, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Responsibilities:
  • Learn to program, set up, and operate GT SCHMIDT dot-peen marking equipment.
  • Create, edit, save, and retrieve marking programs using Windows-based software.
  • Enter required part-identification information, including part numbers, heat numbers, lot numbers, serial numbers, date codes, logos, and customer-specific markings.
  • Learn to program, set up, and operate a KUKA robotic system used during the marking process.
  • Review work orders, routers, blueprints, technical drawings, and stamping instructions before beginning each job.
  • Confirm that the correct parts, quantities, marking details, and specifications correspond with the applicable work order and drawing.
  • Adjust marking location, character size, spacing, depth, speed, and orientation based on job requirements.
  • Properly position, fixture, and secure components before operating the equipment.
  • Complete and inspect a first-piece sample before continuing the production run.
  • Perform in-process inspections to verify the accuracy, legibility, depth, location, orientation, and completeness of each marking.
  • Maintain proper separation and identification of stamped, unstamped, accepted, and nonconforming materials.
  • Prevent the mixing of part numbers, heat numbers, lots, serial numbers, and customer orders.
  • Stop production and notify a supervisor or Quality team member when marking instructions are incorrect, unclear, or outside the required specifications.
  • Complete accurate production, inspection, traceability, and job-completion documentation.
  • Grind, clean, or otherwise prepare parts and marking surfaces when required.
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, software issues, damaged tooling, quality concerns, and unsafe conditions.
  • Safely load, unload, move, and stage parts and materials.
  • Operate a forklift and other material-handling equipment after completing the required training and authorization.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, production, and operating procedures.
  • Work overtime and weekends as production needs require.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, metal fabrication, machining, industrial marking, or a related production environment preferred
  • Experience operating programmable, automated, robotic, or CNC-related manufacturing equipment is a plus
  • Comfortable entering information and navigating programs using Windows-based computer software
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, routers, blueprints, technical drawings, and written manufacturing instructions
  • Ability to accurately enter part numbers, serial numbers, heat numbers, lot numbers, date codes, and other traceability information
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn computerized marking and robotic equipment
  • Ability to properly fixture, position, and secure parts before beginning production
  • Understanding of first-piece and in-process inspection procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize incorrect, incomplete, or illegible markings
  • Ability to maintain accurate production and quality documentation
  • Ability to use basic measuring and inspection tools as required
  • Previous forklift or material-handling experience preferred
  • Ability to follow safety, quality, and traceability procedures consistently
  • Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with Production, Quality, and supervisory personnel
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends based on production demands
