Location: Cranston, RI

Duration: One Year contract with possibility of extensions

Job Description

Public Health Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the development, implementation, and ongoing support of rural community health networks within an assigned region of Rhode Island. This position plays a key role in advancing the goals and objectives of the Rural Health Transformation Program

The position requires a high level of expertise in community health program development, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, research, and program implementation. Coordinator will work independently while collaborating with internal teams, community organizations, healthcare providers, government partners, and local stakeholders to establish sustainable rural health infrastructure and improve access to healthcare services.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of rural healthcare systems, community health networks, and key stakeholders within Rhode Island's rural communities.
  • Knowledge of community organizing principles, public health practices, health policy, and healthcare program implementation.
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement, partnership development, strategic planning, and community-based initiatives.
  • Understanding of challenges impacting rural populations, including barriers to healthcare access, social determinants of health, and health outcome disparities.
  • Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, healthcare finance, public administration, and public health objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare reports, facilitate discussions, and deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities in a complex program environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Health Policy, Public Policy, Public Health, Human Services, Healthcare Administration, a licensed health profession, or a related field.
  • 2 5 years of professional experience in healthcare policy, public health, program administration, community engagement, public administration, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with rural communities, healthcare systems, or community-based organizations.
  • Experience managing public health transformation initiatives or government-funded programs.
  • Familiarity with healthcare access challenges, social determinants of health, and community health improvement strategies.
  • Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder projects and reporting program outcomes.
