The Deputy Chief of Staff has overall responsibility and accountability for ensuring implementation of established policies and for providing overall direction in the continuing operation of the service lines under his/her assignment. The incumbent monitors and ensures medical staff compliance with agency regulations, medical staff bylaws, The Joint Commission standards and other appropriate regulations. The incumbent directly supervises physicians, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and other support staff. The Deputy Chief of Staff is responsible for collaboration and coordination within their own service line and with the various service lines at EKHCS. They are responsible to have effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Incumbent must have strong leadership, communication skills with the ability to collaborate and work in cooperation within their own and other service lines, as well as with other facilities within VISN 4, Health Service Area (HSA) 4.2. Coordinates care in all areas of the Service lines at both the Topeka and Leavenworth divisions and any expansion in the future; develops and oversees the care and supervision provided by both physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs); provides direct patient care to patients as required and provides clinical guidance to Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). Responsible to coordinate within their own Service Line, outside of their Service Line, at both divisions within the EKHCS structure, the CBOC Clinics, and other facilities within VISN 4, Health Service Area (HSA) 4.2. Open, clear, and collaborative engagements are a key duty. Incumbent is ultimately responsible to ensure barriers for Veterans and staff are minimized to promote a positive work environment. Fosters positive working relationships with staff, peers and Veterans. Hours: Mon-Fri 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm
