Protecnium is an international firm specializing in engineering and technical services (www.protecnium.com/en). We are currently looking for a Land Surveyor to join our team for an airfield and civil infrastructure project in Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA (on-site position).
- Project: Airfield Pavement Rehabilitation and Civil Infrastructure Works.
- Estimated duration of the position: 1 year.
- In general, when the project ends, we try to place the employee in other projects to give him/her continuity.
Summary
The Land Surveyor will be responsible for performing field surveying activities in support of pavement rehabilitation and associated infrastructure works.
The role will include establishing and maintaining survey control, construction layout and staking, collecting topographic and as-built data, verifying elevations, grades, and coordinates, and providing accurate survey information to the construction team.
Main Responsibilities
- Perform field surveying activities for pavement rehabilitation and civil infrastructure works.
- Establish, maintain, and verify survey control points.
- Perform construction layout and staking activities.
- Collect topographic and as-built survey data.
- Verify elevations, grades, coordinates, and construction tolerances.
- Operate total stations, GNSS/GPS equipment, data collectors, and other surveying instruments.
- Download, check, process, and manage field survey data.
- Use Trimble equipment and Trimble Business Center for survey data management.
- Coordinate with project engineers, superintendents, quality personnel, and subcontractors.
- Prepare survey reports and support office surveying and data-processing activities when required.
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 10 hours per day, including a 1-hour lunch break.

- Qualification in Surveying or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 5–6 years of field surveying experience on civil construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction layout, survey control, elevations, grades, and as-built surveys.
- Proficiency with total stations, GNSS/GPS systems, and data collectors.
- Experience using Trimble Business Center is required.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Previous office surveying or survey data-processing experience is preferred.
- Airfield, roadway, paving, or heavy civil construction experience is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- English level: C1 (Advanced).
