Job Title Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team in San Dimas, California. This role is critical in providing advanced, direct patient care to a diverse population of critically ill patients, utilizing the full scope of the nursing process. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, ensuring adherence to the highest standards within the ICU setting. This position requires strong clinical judgment, the ability to respond rapidly to changes in patient condition, and effective communication with physicians and other healthcare professionals. Flexibility is key, as the role may require floating to other acute care units, such as Medical/Surgical Telemetry (MST), based on hospital needs and the nurse's professional competencies. Key Responsibilities Deliver safe and effective patient care by applying the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Provide direct patient care within the established scope of practice for a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting. Direct and guide patient and family teaching, ensuring comprehensive understanding of care plans and conditions. Oversee and guide the activities of other nursing personnel, maintaining high standards of care within the ICU. Maintain direct responsibility and accountability for the care provided to assigned patients. Communicate effectively and promptly with physicians regarding changes in patient clinical condition, including hemodynamic monitoring, diagnostic study results, and abnormal findings. Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and/or response to treatment. Maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies. Be willing to float to other acute care units, such as Medical/Surgical Telemetry (MST), as needed. Required Qualifications Minimum of one (1) year of recent experience as a Staff Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital critical care setting. Proficiency and experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. Preferred Qualifications Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) Certification. Current COVID-19 vaccination and booster status. Skills & Competencies Expertise in the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation). Strong direct patient care skills in a critical care environment. Proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation. Excellent communication skills for physician collaboration and patient/family teaching. Critical thinking and rapid response capabilities for emergent patient situations. Ability to direct and guide other nursing personnel. Commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality. Adaptability and flexibility to float to other units as required. Competent in utilizing EPIC EMR for documentation and patient management.
