Roles and Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and clinical staff during endoscopic procedures
• Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, instruments, and supplies before scheduled procedures
• Assist with patient preparation and positioning while maintaining privacy, dignity, and comfort
• Handle and prepare endoscopy equipment according to established clinical and infection-control protocols
• Assist with the safe handling, cleaning, disinfection, and processing of endoscopes and related equipment
• Inspect endoscopy equipment for cleanliness, functionality, and damage before use
• Ensure appropriate instruments and supplies are available for each procedure
• Assist the clinical team during procedures by providing instruments, supplies, and equipment as requested
• Monitor and maintain procedure-room readiness throughout the shift
• Transport specimens according to facility procedures and ensure proper labeling and documentation
• Maintain accurate records related to equipment processing, procedures, and supplies
• Follow infection prevention, OSHA, HIPAA, and patient safety standards
• Communicate equipment issues, supply shortages, or patient concerns promptly to the appropriate clinical staff
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe endoscopy environment

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Endoscopy Technician experience
• Experience working in an endoscopy, GI lab, operating room, or procedural setting
• Knowledge of endoscope handling, cleaning, disinfection, and high-level disinfection/sterilization processes
• Familiarity with endoscopy instruments and procedure-room equipment
• Strong understanding of infection prevention and patient safety practices
• Current BLS Certification preferred or required by facility
• Experience with electronic medical records and equipment tracking systems preferred
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced procedural environment
