Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
To assist an Occupational Therapist in administering occupational therapy services in grades preschool through 12 for physically, developmentally, mentally, or emotionally disturbed students.
Receives general supervision from the Special Education Director. Exercises no supervision.
Examples Of Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provides occupational therapy services to students under the direction of the Occupational Therapist.
- Implements goals developed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Monitors students to ensure activities are performed correctly.
- Records observations of student progress for use by the Occupational Therapist.
- Prepares materials and assembles equipment used during treatment.
- Performs a variety of clerical activities related to the work, such as record keeping, assisting in report preparation, and phone and other communication with persons involved in therapy services.
- Attends a variety of meetings and conferences, as required, including Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
- Uses personal transportation for incidental travel.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Experience And Education/Training
Experience providing therapy as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in a pediatric clinical/educational setting.
AND
Associate degree from an accredited university with major course work in Occupational Therapy.
Licenses/Certificates/Registrations
Current Occupational Therapy Assistant certification.
A current American Red Cross CPR certification which includes children and adults.
An appropriate, valid California driver's license and auto liability insurance.
