Job descriptionCullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Systems Engineer 3. The work will be done onsite 5 days per week in Mossville, IL. This is a long-term position with an estimated duration of 24 months that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $59/hour + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay). The position is first shift, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week, with potential overtime of up to 25% and occasional domestic travel.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to support system integration and validation activities for advanced safety, automation, and autonomous machine technologies. This role will focus on designing and supporting machine-based data collection and connectivity systems, integrating sensors and hardware, executing verification and validation testing, and troubleshooting complex system issues. The engineer will work with HIL/SIL labs, test benches, surrogate vehicles, and proving-ground environments to validate remote-control, semi-autonomous, and autonomous systems. This position offers extensive collaboration with global software, systems, controls, validation, and product support teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, deploy, and support machine-based data collection systems and connectivity solutions across multiple equipment and operating environments.
• Install, calibrate, validate, and troubleshoot camera, radar, LiDAR, GPS, and data acquisition hardware.
• Perform system integration, verification, validation, and field testing for advanced safety and autonomous technologies.
• Diagnose hardware, software, networking, and machine-integration issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Develop test procedures, validation plans, automation/simulation tools, engineering documentation, and technical reports while collaborating with global engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Approximately 2–5+ years of relevant engineering experience; the requisition contains slightly inconsistent experience ranges, listing 3–7 years in the general description and 2–5 years in the detailed candidate requirements.
• Strong networking and systems design skills.
• Experience independently planning and executing system test and validation activities.
• Experience with CAN tools and Linux OS.
• Hands-on experience with camera, radar, and LiDAR calibration and validation.
• Experience with Python scripting and test automation.
• Knowledge of hardware/software integration, including circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, and computer systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, organizational, and technical documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with machine operation.
• Experience with robotics or autonomous systems.
• Experience with HIL/SIL testing, simulation, test benches, or on-machine system validation.
• Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with globally distributed engineering teams.
