Job description

Sr. Manager, EHS & Facilities

The Sr. Manager, EHS & Facilities serves as the single-site leader and accountable owner for Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) and Facilities, providing strategic direction and operational leadership to protect employees, ensure regulatory compliance, maintain facility and equipment reliability, and enable safe, efficient business operations. This role partners closely with the Director of Operations and site leadership to establish priorities, identify and mitigate risk, and drive measurable improvements in safety, facility performance, reliability, and operational excellence.

The Sr. Manager, EHS & Facilities builds, implements, and sustains programs, systems, and standards that strengthen the site's EHS and Facilities capabilities. This leader is responsible for translating regulatory requirements, business needs, risk assessments, and operational data into practical solutions, clear accountability, and sustainable processes. The role requires the ability to influence positive change without relying solely on direct authority, engaging frontline employees, operations leaders, support functions, contractors, vendors, and senior leadership to establish a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

This position provides leadership for EHS compliance, risk management, incident prevention and investigation, environmental programs, emergency preparedness, training, ergonomics, business continuity, facility operations, maintenance strategy, infrastructure, material handling equipment, contractors, and facility improvement projects. The Sr. Manager is accountable for developing and managing EHS and Facilities budgets, prioritizing investments based on risk and business impact, leading cross-functional projects, and ensuring resources are deployed effectively.

Success in this role is measured not only by compliance, but by sustained risk reduction, employee engagement, facility reliability, operational performance, cost effectiveness, and continuous improvement. The Sr. Manager uses data, leading and lagging indicators, audits, inspections, and business performance metrics to identify opportunities, establish priorities, measure results, and drive accountability. This leader serves as a trusted advisor to site leadership and a catalyst for building a proactive, high-performing EHS and Facilities culture aligned with AirLife's values and business objectives.

  • Proven ability to influence positive change across all levels of an organization, including frontline employees, operations leaders, support functions, contractors, vendors, and senior leadership, including situations where direct authority is limited.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA and applicable federal, state, and local EHS requirements, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical, sustainable operating standards.

  • Proven ability to develop and manage operating and capital budgets, evaluate business cases, prioritize investments based on risk and business impact, and maintain financial accountability.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with frontline employees, senior leaders, regulatory agencies, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold leaders and employees accountable for EHS, Facilities, and operational performance.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, develop sustainable solutions, and drive timely execution.
  • Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple projects, and maintain effective follow-through in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships and work effectively with Operations, Human Resources, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Security, Corporate EHS/Facilities, and external service providers.
