Radiation Physics Support The Contractor shall provide qualified radiation physics and radiation protection personnel to perform work in support of the Advanced Light Source Upgrade (ALS-U) Project. Contractor personnel shall execute assigned radiation physics and radiation protection activities supporting the design, procurement, fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover of project systems in accordance with applicable Department of Energy (DOE) requirements, company policies, and ALS-U Project procedures.Work shall be performed on an as-requested basis and may include preparation and review of technical analyses and documentation, radiation protection engineering, shielding evaluations, field assessments and measurements, development of radiation protection requirements and work products, participation in engineering and readiness reviews, and direct field support of project installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover activities. Contractor personnel shall coordinate and execute assigned work with the ALS-U Project Office, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Procurement, Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S), Systems Engineering, and other project personnel as required to complete assigned tasks and deliverables. The Contractor may be assigned one or more of the following tasks. Task 1 Radiation Protection Engineering Provide technical expertise supporting radiological design and engineering activities for ALS-U systems and facilities. Activities may include: Radiation shielding evaluations Radiation transport analyses ALARA evaluations Radiation protection design reviews Technical recommendations supporting design decisions Evaluation of radiological hazards associated with accelerator systems and experimental equipment Task 2 Accelerator Radiation Safety Support Provide technical consultation supporting accelerator radiation safety throughout the project lifecycle. Activities may include: Accelerator safety evaluations Safety basis documentation support Review of accelerator modifications Evaluation of proposed changes for potential radiological impacts Support for configuration management activities affecting radiation safety Task 3 Technical Reviews Participate in technical reviews to evaluate compliance with project requirements and accepted radiation protection practices. Support may include review of: Engineering drawings Specifications Design packages Procurement documentation Installation plans Test procedures Operating procedures Readiness documentation Task 4 Radiological Hazard Assessments Perform or support radiological hazard evaluations for project work activities. Activities may include: Hazard identification Evaluation of worker exposure Review of work planning documentation Recommendations for engineering and administrative controls ALARA planning Task 5 Radiation Protection Documentation Develop, review, or revise project documentation supporting radiation protection activities . Documentation may include: Technical reports Engineering calculations Radiation protection procedures Technical basis documents Design review comments Engineering memoranda Compliance documentation Lessons learned Task 6 Field Support Provide field support during installation, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness activities. Support may include: Walkdowns Field observations Resolution of technical issues Coordination with project personnel Evaluation of changing field conditions Recommendations supporting safe execution of work Task 7 Regulatory Compliance Support Provide technical support to assist the project in maintaining compliance with applicable federal, DOE, Laboratory, and project requirements. Support may include: Regulatory assessments Compliance reviews Documentation reviews Response to review comments Corrective action recommendations Task 8 Project Meetings Attend project meetings as requested. Participation may include: Technical working meetings Design reviews Readiness reviews Planning meetings Risk discussions Interface coordination meetings Task 9 DOE Review Support Provide technical assistance supporting DOE reviews and independent assessments. Support may include: Technical presentations Review preparation Action item resolution Response development Documentation updates 3 DELIVERABLES AND SCHEDULE 3.1 Deliverables Deliverables shall be task-specific and identified within individual work authorizations. Deliverables may include, but are not limited to: Technical memoranda Radiation shielding calculations Radiation transport analyses ALARA evaluations Radiological hazard assessments Engineering recommendations Design review comments Technical reports Procedures Technical basis documents Compliance assessments Readiness review support documentation Corrective action recommendations Meeting attendance and technical consultation Monthly status reports, when requested About MY HR:
