Job description

Fullstack Engineer (7+ years of experience) with C#/.NET, Node.js, or Java in the backend

Typescript as the #1 preferred in the frontend but will take React or Javascript

Important requirement is experience working with Optimizely, ideally in a headless environment

JD:

As an individual contributor and key technical authority, you will be responsible for the strategy, technical health, and execution of modern front-end development and full-stack solutions at GCC. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in React, Next.js, and headless CMS architectures-serving as our resident Optimizely expert-with a proven track record of leading digital initiatives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will focus purely on code quality, system architecture, and mentoring, driving exceptional results through best practices without the responsibilities of direct people management.

What You'll Do

  • Optimizely Integration & Delivery: Design and implement robust integrations with our Optimizely headless CMS. You will create seamless content delivery experiences that empower our content teams while maintaining technical excellence.
  • Technical Leadership: Demonstrate technical leadership with hands-on accountability for the end-to-end delivery of modern web solutions. You will guide solutions from technical design through development, automated testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Modern Web Architecture: Architect and build sophisticated, customer-facing web applications using Next.js and React. You will leverage server-side rendering, static site generation, and other modern web patterns to deliver exceptional performance and user experience.
  • System Health & Metrics: Drive system improvements by tracking performance against KPI and SLA targets for each API using internal System Metrics Baselines. You will regularly use the Architecture Decision Record (ADR) process, the Richardson Maturity Model, and internal System Quality Guidelines to measure and maintain API and overall system health.
  • Full-Stack Collaboration: Collaborate with back-end teams working with C#, .NET Core, SQL, Docker, and Redis to create cohesive full-stack solutions. You will deploy modern web applications to the cloud using Azure, implementing CI/CD pipelines and ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and coach team members on modern front-end development practices, including React best practices, TypeScript, state management, and headless CMS integration patterns.
  • Architecture Strategy: Actively participate in the Virtual Architecture Team (VAT) to help set organization-wide technical direction, establish architectural standards, and partner with other teams to deliver sustainable solutions.

How We Work & Team Expectations

  • Extreme Ownership: We own and support what we build. A work item is never considered complete until it is deployed to production. You will own your work end-to-end, treating deployment issues with the exact same urgency as the initial development.
  • Culture of Communication: We heavily value Open & Courageous Communication (O&C), Risk Taking, and Emotional Maturity (EM). You are expected to identify cross-functional dependencies before sprints begin and engage outside teams early to prevent last-minute bottlenecks.
  • Innovating with AI: We use AI for faster coding, instant debugging, learning acceleration, and code reviews. You will leverage our Enterprise Clause AI license and Claude Code within your IDE, ensuring any new prompts or agents you create are properly logged.
  • Change Management: Every production change-regardless of size-must be planned, authorized, communicated, and traceable. When handing work off to other teams, you must provide complete documentation and obtain sign-off from the receiving team's manager.
  • Visibility & Demos: You will actively demo work at scheduled sprint sessions to provide visibility, gather early directional feedback, and maintain alignment with stakeholders. Demos should utilize stable, ready environments, such as production for the CMS WebMod project.
  • Continuous Testing & Security: You will incorporate load testing scripts during the development process. You are also expected to adhere to SAST testing processes as part of our CI/CD pipeline and stay informed on our DevOps standards.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in software development with a significant focus on front-end engineering.
  • Experience with headless CMS platforms, preferably Optimizely, including content modeling, API integration, and content delivery strategies.
  • Strong experience with React and Next.js in production environments, including expertise in server-side rendering, static site generation, API routes, and performance optimization.
  • Deep understanding of modern JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.
  • Full-stack capability with experience in back-end technologies (C#/.NET, Node.js, or Java) and an understanding of API design and integration.
  • Experience with front-end state management solutions (Redux, Context API, Zustand, etc.) and when to apply them.
  • Ability to architect scalable, performant, secure, and reusable front-end solutions and component libraries.
  • Knowledge of web performance optimization, accessibility standards (WCAG), and SEO best practices.
  • Experience with modern front-end tooling (Webpack, Vite, etc.) and testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, Cypress).
  • Capability to communicate and collaborate across the wider organization, influencing technical decisions and partners without direct reporting authority.
  • Strong understanding of Domain Driven Design, SOLID principles, and Design Patterns as they apply to front-end architecture.
  • Azure or other cloud platforms experience (GCP, AWS).
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with content preview and editing experiences in headless CMS environments.
  • Experience with design systems and component library development.
  • Knowledge of GraphQL and modern API patterns.
  • Understanding of Web Vitals and Core Web Vitals optimization.

Contributions to open-source projects or technical writing/speaking experience.
