Job Description Job Title Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry / Medical-Surgical Job Summary Join the dedicated nursing team on 2 North, a 50-bed Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, and Intermediate Care Unit located in Westfield, MA. This unit is part of the esteemed Baystate Health system, committed to providing comprehensive patient care across its network of facilities. As a Telemetry/Med-Surg RN, you will care for a diverse patient population requiring cardiac monitoring, post-surgical care, and general medical interventions. The unit maintains an expected nurse-to-patient ratio of 6:1, fostering a collaborative environment focused on high-quality patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for medical-surgical and telemetry patients. Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret EKG strips, and respond to changes in patient condition. Administer medications safely and accurately, including IV drips. Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members. Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and discharge instructions. Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records. Required Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Massachusetts. Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing. Minimum of 1 year of recent, acute care experience in Telemetry or Medical-Surgical nursing. Ability to meet facility's travel nurse radius requirements (e.g., residing outside a 90-mile radius from the facility). Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). 2+ years of experience in Telemetry or Medical-Surgical nursing. Previous experience within a Baystate Health facility. Skills & Competencies Proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage a diverse patient caseload efficiently. Competency in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Shift Details Shift Type: Nights (NOC) Shift Duration: 12 hours Days per Week: 3 (Option for 4x12 shifts may be available) Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: September 7, 2026 Call Requirements: Not specified. Weekend Rotations: Not specified. Licensing Requirements Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA). Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA).
