Program Director - Pollution Prevention Partnership and AutoCheck

Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi

PURPOSE

The Program Director for Pollution Prevention Partnership and AutoCheck, under general direction, directs the administration of assigned programs, including planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling program activities. The position directs the Pollution Prevention Partnership and AutoCheck program; supports the research community through direct engagement with faculty and staff, designs and maintains program websites; and helps support basic information technology resources for the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Administration: 90%

  • Establishes strategic goals and designs innovative solutions to local and regional air quality issues.
  • Develops and maintains cooperative relationships with external stakeholders of the Pollution Prevention Partnership and AutoCheck program.
  • Writes program applications, work plans and reports. Researches and identifies possible funding sources. Writes grants and responds to Requests for Proposals as needed.
  • Develops work plans to meet funding source needs and sustain/grow program. Produces accurate monthly reports to funding sources, contract representatives, and University staff. Reports will include activities and deliverables performed, environmental impacts, income and expense status of program, and budgeting information.
  • Recruits, hires and trains student workers and interns to assist in program operations.
  • Coordinates and delivers AutoCheck 'Clean Fleet' program. Conducts program emission testing sessions in outdoor environments. Organizes, sets up, and breaks down testing events. Gathers emissions data, compiles and submits accurate and timely reports.
  • Markets and recruits for program partners and stakeholders to participate in program. Meets with community members and officials and encourages their participation in program. Ensures program website is current, produces accurate and timely reports.
  • Researches emerging technologies related to pollution prevention. Evaluates, purchases, maintains, upgrades, and operates equipment and software.
  • Fulfills all terms of program contract with Port of Corpus Christi and other funding partners.
  • Ensures continued eligibility for repair voucher funding to support the AutoCheck program.

Research/Program Support: 5%

  • Delivers Research Engagement resources to help increase research funding.
  • Provides consultation and contributions to faculty and staff in the proposal development process.
  • Develops and supports organizational research impact capacity.

Other: 5%

  • Helps to design and maintain organizational websites and information technology resources among team.
  • Safely operates university vehicles/machinery.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field.
  • Ten (10) years of related experience
  • Additional education may be considered as a substitution for the minimum experience requirements:
    • Master's degree in applicable field, and eight (8) years of related experience; OR
    • Doctoral degree in applicable field, and six (6) years of related experience.
  • Maintains a valid driver's license.
  • Experience in program administration, environmental or community engagement programming, grants and contracts, research support, sponsored projects, or related program operations.
  • Experience developing, administering, and reporting on program activities, work plans, deliverables, budgets, and funding-source requirements.
  • Experience writing grants, reports, work plans, or responses to Requests for Proposals.
  • Experience working with external stakeholders, program partners, funding sources, contract representatives, university staff, faculty, or community members.
  • Experience coordinating program activities, outreach, data collection, reporting, and event logistics.
  • Experience supporting research engagement, proposal development, or sponsored project activities.
  • Experience maintaining program websites or supporting basic information technology resources in a team.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability and willingness to learn, adopt, and apply new technologies, software applications, databases, websites, and digital tools to support program operations, reporting, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in environmental or community engagement programming.
  • Familiarity with program development.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • High level of articulation and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education, training or experience in research support activities.
  • Experience sustaining or growing externally funded programs through continuation funding, work plans, sponsor reporting, and responses to Requests for Proposals.
  • Experience preparing environmental impact summaries, program activity reports, income and expense updates, and deliverable reports for funding sources or contract representatives.
  • Experience designing, maintaining, or improving public-facing program websites or digital resources to support program communication and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience working with community members, public officials, funding partners, and external stakeholders in support of environmental or research-related programs.

SALARY: $5,333.34 - $6,166.67 Monthly ($64,000.08 - $74,000.04 Annual, Approximately)

NOTE: Employment may be impacted by the Presidential proclamation issued on September 19, 2025 and the moratorium issued by Texas Governor Abbott on January 27, 2026.
