Overview

Viceroy Hotels & Residences is returning to New York City with the opening of Viceroy Park Avenue in December 2026! Located in the heart of Manhattan's NoMad neighborhood, this highly anticipated luxury hotel represents an exciting new chapter for the globally recognized, design-forward hospitality brand. We are seeking motivated, hospitality-driven professionals who are passionate about delivering exceptional guest experiences. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a pre-opening team, helping establish the property's culture, service standards, and operational excellence from day one.

The Human Resources Manager oversees day-to-day HR operations and serves as a trusted partner to hotel leadership and colleagues. This role supports the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training, engagement, benefits, and compliance. The HR Manager helps foster a positive, inclusive, and service-focused workplace culture while ensuring HR policies and practices align with company standards and employment laws. The ideal candidate is approachable, collaborative, highly organized, and able to effectively support both colleagues and leaders in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer insurance benefits, calculate billing totals, explain benefits, assist with completion of enrollment forms, and answer questions.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and coordinating Human Resources strategies in alignment with Corporate guidelines and initiatives
  • Provide guidance to managers on resolving colleague issues and concerns; assist with counseling colleagues and managers as needed
  • Apply knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices in daily operations
  • Support recruitment and hiring efforts across properties, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, federal and state laws, and company standards
  • Exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and utilizing appropriate resources
  • Manage priorities effectively to meet deadlines and support operational needs
  • Assist in the development, coordination, and delivery of training programs and initiatives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and leadership while maintaining confidentiality
  • Support employee relations efforts and assist in addressing workplace concerns and investigations as needed
  • Champion a positive and inclusive workplace culture by supporting employee engagement initiatives, fostering collaboration, and helping drive programs that enhance colleague satisfaction and retention
  • Contribute to HR projects and initiatives designed to enhance the colleague experience and organizational effectiveness
  • Administer compensation, benefits, leave, and performance management systems
  • Assist colleagues with leave of absence requests and processes, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, parental leave, workers' compensation, and return-to-work coordination
  • Coordinate employee offboarding processes, including exit interviews, final documentation, benefits transitions, system access removal, and separation procedures
  • Compile review list and distribute to departments.
  • Compile Turnover Report, copy and distribute.
  • Enter payroll information on computer (wage information, changes).
  • Conduct prescreening interviews.
  • Respond to unemployment claims, maintain unemployment logbook.
  • Support payroll, benefits, leave administration, and HRIS processes.
  • Maintain new hire, termination, transfer and promotion logbook.
  • Audit hours worked in payroll reports for eligibility of benefits.
  • Compile wage surveys.
  • Monitor and maintain Leave of Absence log.
  • Monitor Workman's Compensation claims, complete First Report of Injury and Employers Report of Industrial Injury.
  • Answer questions regarding 401K Plan, vacation and benefits (insured and noninsured).
  • Maintain complimentary room night log, process employee requests.
  • Prepare and place recruitment advertising.
  • Process paperwork for terminating employees.
  • Maintain advertising logbook.
  • Coordinate colleague training, development, and engagement initiatives.
  • Schedule Viceroy Hotel Group Orientation.
  • Assist in Viceroy Hotel Group Orientation explain benefits, conduct tour of property.
  • Write articles and take pictures for property newsletter.
  • Assist with special projects; plan employee events (meetings, picnics, parties).
  • Maintain First Aid log.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of progressive Human Resources experience in a hotel or a related industry required.
  • Previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
  • College course work in related field helpful
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Long hours sometimes required.
  • Sedentary work Exerting up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Viceroy Hotel Goup Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing nametags.
  • Comply with Viceroy Hotel Goup Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
