Behavior Technician - Anaheim

Ad Astra Behavior Analytic Services is seeking motivated, dependable individuals to join our team as Behavior Technicians. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) while developing skills for a career in behavioral services.

Behavior Technicians provide direct, individualized support to children and their families by implementing ABA treatment programs under the direction of a clinical team. Services focus on developing communication, social, adaptive, and daily living skills while supporting positive behavioral outcomes and greater independence. Services are primarily provided in clients' homes and community-based settings based on individualized treatment needs. Most sessions are scheduled Monday through Friday between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM, with scheduling flexibility based on client needs and employee availability.

Pay Range: $22$30 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and other applicable factors. Additional compensation may be available for bilingual Spanish-speaking applicants.

As a Behavior Technician, you will play an important role in supporting clients as they develop meaningful skills and work toward greater independence. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing individualized, one-on-one ABA services to children.
  • Implementing skill acquisition and behavior intervention programs under clinical supervision.
  • Teaching communication, social, self-help, adaptive, and daily living skills.
  • Using evidence-based ABA strategies to promote learning and independence.
  • Supporting interventions designed to decrease behaviors that may interfere with safety, learning, or daily functioning.
  • Collecting accurate client data during treatment sessions.
  • Completing required session documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicating observations, progress, and concerns with supervising BCBAs and other members of the clinical team.
  • Maintaining positive, professional relationships with clients and their families.
  • Following established clinical, ethical, safety, and confidentiality standards.
  • Adjusting to individual client needs while maintaining consistency with established treatment plans.

Applicants with coursework, education, or experience in psychology, education, human services, child development, social services, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Successful candidates should demonstrate reliability, compassion, professionalism, strong communication skills, and a genuine commitment to helping children achieve meaningful progress.

Required Qualifications:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Complete the required 40-hour online training provided by Ad Astra.
  • Have a valid driver's license.
  • Have reliable transportation.
  • Maintain active automobile insurance listing the applicant as a covered driver.
  • Have a current negative TB test.

Skills and Characteristics:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Effective problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
  • Creativity and flexibility
  • Dependability and consistent attendance
  • Professionalism and appropriate workplace boundaries
  • Patience and compassion when working with children
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with BCBAs and other clinical team members
  • Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in challenging situations
  • Willingness to learn, receive feedback, and participate in ongoing training

Physical and Cognitive Requirements:

  • Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and transition between floor-level and standing positions.
  • Participate in developmentally appropriate client activities, including floor-based activities, movement activities, transitions, and safety monitoring.
  • Safely work in a variety of environments, including client homes, clinics, schools, community settings, and remote/telehealth environments when applicable.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move therapy materials and equipment, generally up to 50 pounds.
  • Remain seated for extended periods while providing telehealth services or completing computer-based responsibilities.
  • Operate computers, keyboards, mobile devices, and other equipment requiring fine motor coordination.
  • Maintain visual and auditory awareness to observe client behavior, monitor safety, and communicate effectively in both in-person and virtual settings.
  • Read, understand, retain, and apply written and verbal information.
  • Maintain attention, concentration, situational awareness, and sound judgment in dynamic environments.
  • Collect, record, and submit accurate client data and session documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and emotional resilience when addressing sensitive client, family, employee, or workplace concerns.

Training and Benefits:

Ad Astra is committed to providing Behavior Technicians with the training, support, and resources needed to build a strong foundation in ABA.

Additional benefits and development opportunities include:

  • Provided 40-hour RBT training
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities
  • Structured, performance-based pay increases
  • Opportunities for additional compensation through our incentive program

Incentive Pay Structure:

Behavior Technicians may qualify for additional hourly increases based on continued availability and professional development:

  • $1/hour increase after maintaining consistent availability for 90 consecutive days.
  • Additional $1/hour increase upon successfully earning RBT certification.

Client Cancellation Policy:

We recognize that last-minute cancellations can impact technician schedules and earnings.
