Assistant Program Coordinator
The Assistant Program Coordinator supports the Tax Credit Alliance of Nebraska (TCAN) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program through tax site operations, volunteer support, tax preparation, client services, inventory management, and community outreach. This position serves as a key member of the VITA program team and works closely with the Program Coordinator to ensure high-quality tax preparation services are available to eligible individuals and families throughout Nebraska. The Assistant Program Coordinator will learn all aspects of the VITA program, including tax law, site operations, volunteer support, client services, and community engagement. This position is expected to obtain and maintain all required IRS certifications and progressively develop the skills necessary to independently support and manage VITA sites.

Minimum Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or years of relevant experience or completed relevant education may substitute for required education/experience on a year-for-year basis. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to pass an IRS suitability check and maintain tax compliance. Experience using Microsoft Office applications. Must have a valid driver's license and meet University driver eligibility requirements. Must have ability to travel throughout Nebraska using a personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement. Ability to work evenings and weekends as required during tax season. Ability to transport, set up, and take down program equipment and supplies. Ability to obtain all required IRS VITA certifications within first month of hire Ability to maintain all required IRS VITA certifications
Preferred Qualifications - Prior VITA or tax preparation experience. Experience working with volunteers. Experience facilitating trainings, meetings, or presentations. Experience providing customer service to diverse populations. Familiarity with TaxSlayer or similar tax preparation software. Experience with community outreach or nonprofit programs.
Posted Salary - $19.329/hr minimum
