About Marcurius Multi-Mission Solutions

Marcurius Multi-Mission Solutions is a fast-growing Defense technology company headquartered in Clearwater, Florida. Founded by US and UK veterans, Marcurius brings decades of frontline experience across Special Operations and Intelligence missions, with deep expertise in asymmetric warfare and the real-world employment of unmanned systems.

Marcurius is building a new kind of unmanned systems company- multi-domain, multi-platform, and mission-driven. We fuse battle-proven technologies, resilient command-and-control architectures, and operator-led doctrine to deliver capabilities that work in contested environments. Our initial focus is the rapid fielding of advanced Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs) for modern maritime operations.

Role Overview

Marcurius is developing multiple unmanned surface vessel classes, including high-speed monohulls and multihull catamarans. We are seeking a Marine Systems Engineer to serve as the internal technical authority for hull platform evaluation, integration, and design validation across all craft.

This role is responsible for reviewing, challenging, and owning hull-level design decisions. You will ensure that vendor-delivered designs meet structural, hydrodynamic, and integration requirements — and that platform decisions support both prototype success and future manufacturability.

You are not only designing or reviewing hulls - you are responsible for making sure they work in the context of the full system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own technical evaluation of all hull platforms across multiple craft classes, identifying risks, gaps, and non-compliances in vendor designs
  • Review and challenge naval architecture deliverables including stability analyses, structural design, accommodation layouts, and resistance/powering calculations
  • Define and enforce accommodation requirements for propulsion systems, payloads, sensors, antennas, and access across all vessels
  • Ensure hull designs support full system integration, coordinating closely with electrical, autonomy, and mission systems leads
  • Provide design-for-manufacturing input, ensuring hull geometry, structure, and sectioning align with 3D printing and assembly strategy
  • Evaluate structural loading conditions and validate designs against real operating environments, including payload effects and dynamic loads
  • Define platform-level acceptance criteria in coordination with Test & Evaluation
  • Assess and document operational limits of each hull class, including sea state, speed envelope, and stability constraints
  • Drive decisions where vendor recommendations conflict with system-level requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in naval architecture, ocean engineering, marine engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in marine platform design or design review
  • Demonstrated experience with multihull or catamaran design (required)
  • Strong ability to review and evaluate stability analyses, structural drawings, and accommodation plans
  • Experience working with naval architecture tools such as Maxsurf, Rhino, ShipConstructor, or equivalent
  • Experience reviewing and challenging third-party or vendor design work

Preferred

  • Experience with unmanned or autonomous marine platforms
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing or composite fabrication methods
  • Defense or military maritime program experience
  • Knowledge of classification society standards (ABS, DNV, Lloyd's, etc.)
  • Experience designing for maintainability in uncrewed environments

Why this role matters

This role ensures Marcurius is not dependent on vendor judgment for platform-critical decisions. The right person will protect hull integrity, integration quality, and manufacturability across all vessel classes, preventing design issues that are costly or impossible to fix later in the program.

Physical Requirements

This role is hands-on and field-oriented. The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of the position:

  • Ability to work onsite in shipyard, fabrication, and marine testing environments
  • Ability to board vessels and work in confined mechanical spaces
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions during testing and sea trials
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required for supplier visits, testing, and operational support
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Work Environment

  • Onsite engineering and build environment
  • Direct involvement in prototyping and sea trials
  • Fast-paced development cycles with aggressive timelines
  • Customer, end-user and internal team facing

Why Marcurius

Marcurius is a people-first, execution-focused organization assembling a high-impact team of Engineers and Operators. This role offers the opportunity to directly shape real-world systems, support strategic national security priorities, and be part of an incredibly exciting journey - building the foundations of a next-generation Defense technology company.

Equal Opportunity Employment

Marcurius Multi-Mission Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to building a diverse, mission-driven team and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under applicable federal, state, or local law.

We strongly encourage applications from veterans and individuals with experience in maritime, defense, and advanced technology sectors.
