Job Title
Under direction of the Director of Personnel Services, perform a variety of specialized clerical duties related to classified or certificated personnel as assigned; provide technical information and assistance to District personnel, administrators and the public regarding personnel policies, procedures and applicable laws, rules and regulations.
Examples Of Duties
1. Provide specialized information and technical information to classified or certificated personnel, administrators, job applicants and the public.
2. Apply, interpret and explain a variety of specialized rules, regulations, laws, policies and procedures.
3. Evaluate and process certificated employee transcripts for salary advancement and supervisor's approval.
4. Communicate with District employees, job applicants and State and County offices regarding the acquisition, expiration and status of teaching credentials.
5. Verify documentation of valid TB tests, fingerprints and first aid certificates; assure timely renewal as needed.
6. Develop and maintain the District-wide employee directory for classified and certificated staff.
7. Prepare, post and distribute job announcements.
8. Prepare and maintain detailed and comprehensive personnel records.
9. Prepare and maintain current and accurate seniority lists.
10. Prepare statistical staffing reports and other documents as needed.
11. Process certificated and classified payroll authorizations and status changes.
12. Process employment applications, personnel folders, contracts, authorizations and attendance sheets for classified and certificated personnel.
13. Distribute notices related to scheduled performance evaluations and maintain related records.
14. Type teacher contracts, correspondence, forms, memos, requisitions, reports and other documents.
15. Operate computer to input technical personnel data including sick leave, vacation days and salary range and step.
16. Contact and assign qualified substitutes as needed for classified and certificated positions.
17. Operate a variety of office equipment including typewriter, copier, computer, printer, calculator and others.
18. Perform switchboard operator/receptionist duties as requested.
19. Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Guide
Knowledge of:
1. Principals and practices of public personnel administration.
2. Applicable laws, rules and regulations related to school district employment.
3. California credentialing requirements and procedures.
4. Correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
5. Modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
6. Statistical recordkeeping techniques.
7. Operation of office equipment including computer, typewriter, copier and calculator
Ability to:
1. Perform specialized and technical clerical duties in support of the District's classified or certificated personnel program.
2. Maintain detailed and comprehensive personnel records, files and lists.
3. Provide specialized information and assistance to District personnel, job applicants and the public.
4. Apply, interpret and explain a variety of laws, rules, regulations, requirements and procedures.

6. Review, code and enter data in computer equipment.
7. Type at a corrected speed of 45 words per minute.
8. Maintain confidentiality of information.
Training and Experience
Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by course work in personnel, business or related field and three years of increasingly responsible personnel experience.
Working Conditions
District office environment.
