The City of Oakland is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and community-centered leader to serve as its Ceasefire Directoran opportunity to lead one of the City's most important and successful strategies for reducing gun violence, saving lives, and building safer communities.

The Ceasefire Director will be at the center of a powerful partnership committed to preventing violence and creating pathways to safety, healing, and opportunity. Serving as the primary liaison among the Mayor's Office, the Oakland Police Department, the Department of Violence Prevention, community-based organizations, service providers, faith leaders, survivors, victims' families, and criminal justice partners, the Director will bring diverse stakeholders together around a shared mission.

What you will typically be responsible for:

• Coordinating the City of Oakland's Ceasefire gun violence reduction strategy and ensuring consistent implementation across all partners.
• Serving as the central liaison among the Mayor's Office, City departments, law enforcement agencies, service providers, and community partners.
• Working with intelligence and violence-prevention partners to identify individuals and groups at the highest risk of gun violence.
• Planning and leading custom notifications, call-ins, and other direct communications that deliver a clear and respectful message of accountability, concern, and opportunity.
• Recruiting, training, and preparing community leaders, clergy, survivors, service providers, and agency representatives who participate in direct communications.
• Convening partners, facilitating strategy meetings, addressing implementation barriers, and maintaining trusted relationships with communities most affected by gun violence.
• Monitoring performance data and preparing reports, briefings, recommendations, and updates for City leadership, Ceasefire partners, and the public, as needed.
• Tracking data such as referrals, follow-up, and outcomes

Minimum Requirements for Application

This recruitment will produce two eligible lists. The restricted list will be for full-time, permanent part-time, or part-time City and Port of Oakland employees who maintain employment for the duration of the recruitment and pass all stages of the recruitment process. The open list will be for all other applicants who pass all stages of the recruitment process. Selective Certification - CeaseFire This recruitment is being announced in accordance with Section 5.03 of the Civil Service Rules. The eligible list generated from this announcement will only be used to fill Project Manager II positions specialized in CeaseFire, including full-time and permanent part-time positions, if applicable, and may be used to fill future vacancies with the same Selective Certification. Any combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the following minimum qualifications may be acceptable:

Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration or other relevant degree for particular project assignment. A Master's degree is desirable.

Experience:

Three (3) years of experience providing senior level management in applied violence reduction strategies including two (2) years of experience working with law enforcement, direct outreach, reentry services and workforce development.

License or Certificate / Other Requirements:

Individuals who are appointed to this position will be required to maintain a valid California Driver's License throughout the tenure of employment OR demonstrate the ability to travel to various locations in a timely manner as required in the performance of duties.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience in a sworn public safety or criminal justice role is preferred
• Experience in community engagement and partnership development is preferred
• Experience with data-informed program implementation and performance management is strongly preferred
