Product Owner Lead
This position requires an experienced Product Owner Lead specializing in Data Governance and Tech Enablement. The primary focus is on driving enterprise data governance maturity, with a significant emphasis on metadata management, data quality, data lineage, and governance platform adoption. The role involves working closely with both business and technical stakeholders to build robust data governance practices across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders to define, implement, and promote enterprise data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
- Support metadata management, business glossary development, data lineage, data cataloging, and data classification across enterprise data domains.
- Support the implementation and adoption of enterprise data governance platforms such as Collibra, Alation, or similar tools.
- Facilitate data quality assessments, issue identification, root cause analysis, and remediation planning for critical data assets in collaboration with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Privacy, and Security teams.
- Develop and maintain governance documentation, standards, and operating procedures for master data, reference data, and critical data elements.
- Support governance councils, working sessions, and stakeholder communications, including regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and risk mitigation activities.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to align data pipelines, integrations, and reporting solutions with data governance standards and policies.
- Define, validate, and monitor data quality rules and controls within data pipelines and integrated workflows.
- Review data pipeline, integration, and reporting designs to ensure compliance with metadata, data lineage, and classification requirements.
- Prioritize and address data quality issues identified through governance assessments, ensuring corrective actions are implemented downstream.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Metadata Management, Data Quality, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience implementing enterprise data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and stewardship processes.
- Hands-on experience with metadata management and data catalog tools such as Collibra, Alation, or equivalent platforms.
- Strong understanding of data quality, metadata, data lineage, business glossary, master data management, and reference data concepts.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Privacy, Security, and Engineering teams.
- Working knowledge of SQL and data analysis for supporting data governance activities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of bridging business and technical teams.
- Must be local to the Bay Area, California, and available for onsite work as required.
This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
