We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Systems Engineer to support, maintain, and enhance Traffic Management Systems for clients across North America. In this role, you will serve as a technical expert, providing operational support, troubleshooting complex system issues, and ensuring the reliability of critical transportation technology platforms. As a Systems Engineer, you'll be the technical backbone behind mission-critical Traffic Management Systems used by agencies across North America, troubleshooting the traffic signals, cameras, and infrastructure that keep communities moving safely. Job Details What You'll Do: Serve as a primary technical resource for Traffic Management System support and customer issue resolution. Respond to support requests through the ticketing system and support hotline. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, communications, and network issues related to traffic management platforms and ITS devices. Configure and maintain Traffic Signals, PTZ Cameras, Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), traffic detectors, and other ITS technologies. Manage incidents according to client-specific Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and ensure timely resolution. Train agency personnel on our systems, products, and software features. Document system architecture, configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures. Support system backups, disaster recovery, and infrastructure maintenance. Collaborate with Project Managers, Software Engineers, QA teams, Database Administrators, and customer stakeholders. Participate in an on-call rotation supporting 24/7 transportation operations. Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend technical solutions that enhance system performance and reliability. Your Experience and Knowledge (Required Qualifications): 3+ years of relevant technical experience. Experience supporting ITS technologies, traffic signals, traffic management systems, or related transportation technologies. Experience with Windows and/or Linux server environments, networking concepts, and system administration. Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, communications, and network issues. Experience with VPNs, remote access tools, and database administration. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong technical documentation and communication skills. Customer-focused mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Jasper Reports, Traffic Management Data Dictionary (TMDD), GraphQL, SOAP, or REST APIs. Experience with Agile software development methodologies, configuration management, and change control processes. Experience supporting complex, mission-critical environments operating 24x7x365. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
