Manager, Social Impact And Sustainability
Weber Shandwick is seeking a curious, purpose-driven, media-savvy Manager to join our Social Impact and Sustainability team in Washington, D.C. This role is designed for a communications strategist who thrives at the intersection of purpose, sustainability, business, policy, media and culture. You'll be responsible for helping to develop and drive execution of communications strategies for a diverse portfolio of corporate, public sector and nonprofit clients seeking to make a tangible impact in a complex and rapidly evolving landscape.
The ideal candidate is an emerging professional with a passion for driving change and understanding of how to build and protect reputation. You bring experience delivering effective, integrated campaigns and thriving on high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment. This position will be based in our Washington, D.C. office on a hybrid schedule.
You're a strategic thinker and relationship-builder. Fluent in internet culture, you're a voracious consumer of news, compulsively following the conversations shaping and social impact and sustainability. You bring experience in earned media, including positioning clients for media opportunities and capturing their voice in compelling content. You understand how to leverage legacy and emerging media platforms to earn attention for clients.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Drive the development and execution of communications strategies, with earned media at the center, collaborating with senior leads to support clients' reputational and campaign goals.
- Support senior leads in managing day-to-day client workflows, timelines and deliverables to support the consistent delivery of high-quality work that meets and exceeds client expectations.
- Craft compelling narratives, messaging and content on behalf of clients and their principals, including press releases, op-eds and social media content.
- Build, maintain and leverage relationships with media to advance client narratives and objectives.
- Compose media materials (toolkits, press releases, pitch notes, client briefings, messaging documents, sample Q&A, proposals, supporting social content, etc.), and conduct media outreach.
- Track developments in politics and culture and media trends that impact clients.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, serving as an integral part of ensuring we deliver cohesive campaign work.
- Mentor and develop junior team members through hands-on guidance and feedback.
- Support new business opportunities to expand the agency's client base.

- Client stewardship: Ability to confidently engage with and provide counsel to clients, establishing yourself as a trusted driver of work.
- Political & cultural fluency: Immersed in the digital landscape and following national political and social issue conversations.
- Media savvy: Experience engaging media, with a track record of delivering successful earned media campaigns.
Additional qualifications:
- 3 5 years of professional experience in communications or public affairs agencies, media, nonprofit or similar organizations.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in purpose-driven communications and sustainability.
- A resilient mindset, deep curiosity and healthy sense of humor.
- Bachelor's Degree
