SAP Project Manager Position Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized SAP Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of SAP implementation, upgrade, and support projects. The ideal candidate combines deep SAP program/project management expertise with hands-on proficiency in JIRA for agile project tracking, sprint planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
This role requires someone who thrives at the intersection of structured SAP methodologies and agile delivery practices, ensuring transparency, accountability, and on-time delivery across all workstreams.
Key Responsibilities SAP Program & Governance
- Play a key role in the System of Governance (SoG), defining and implementing a large-scale SAP S/4HANA I-ERP program.
- Lead tactical activities while supporting overall strategic program objectives.
- Continuously assess issues, risks, and opportunities, and assist with resolution efforts.
- Track scope changes and manage change control processes to prevent scope creep.
- Manage program-level CRAID (Change Requests, Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Decisions) logs.
- Manage project governance activities, including status reporting, steering committee updates, RAID logs, and change management processes.
- Facilitate lessons learned and support the transition to steady-state operations and support.
Agile Delivery & JIRA Management
- Manage Epics, Sub-Epics, and Features for the Product Group within JIRA.
- Own and administer JIRA boards for all project activities, including:
- Creating and maintaining epics, user stories, tasks, and subtasks.
- Managing backlogs and sprint planning.
- Configuring workflows, dashboards, custom fields, and automation.
- Developing JQL queries and reporting capabilities.
- Drive continuous improvement of project management practices, JIRA standards, and reporting templates across the SAP organization.
- Prepare Product Teams for Program Increment (PI) planning events.
- Consolidate Product Line iteration reviews into Product Group iteration reviews and retrospectives.
Program Increment (PI) Planning & Release Management
- Support System of Delivery (SoD) quarterly Program Increment (PI) planning and facilitation, including logistics, breakout sessions, presentations, and workshops.
- Support the collection and review of metrics for major releases, Release on Demand activities, production releases, and problem incident tracking.
- Coordinate and ensure Product Teams remain focused on scope, timelines, release management, and overall delivery progress.
- Support Foundational Product Teams by coordinating release activities such as:
- Cutover planning
- Testing cycles
- Training programs
- Data readiness activities
- Remove blockers and impediments by ensuring issues are elevated to the appropriate governance forums.
SAP Delivery & Integration
- Lead end-to-end SAP project delivery, including:
- SAP implementations
- Upgrades
- Rollouts
- Support enhancements
- S/4HANA migrations
- Module deployments (FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, HCM, etc.)
- Integration initiatives
- Support and manage integration points between ERP modules and legacy or third-party systems.
- Support resolution of Product Development Office (PDO) and Foundational Team dependencies in partnership with Product Managers.
Project Planning & Execution
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, timelines, resource allocations, budgets, and risk registers.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects, priorities, and stakeholder expectations while ensuring successful delivery.
- Communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and milestones to stakeholders and leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience managing SAP projects (implementation, upgrade, or support) in a project management capacity.
- Demonstrated expert-level, daily hands-on use of JIRA, including:
- Board configuration
- Workflow automation
- JQL query development
- Dashboard creation
- Confluence integration
- Strong knowledge of Agile/Scrum and Waterfall/Hybrid project delivery methodologies.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities.

- PMP, PMI-ACP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or SAFe certification.
- SAP Activate certification or SAP certification in a relevant module.

- Confluence and other Atlassian suite tools
- Experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry.
- Familiarity with ITSM and change management tools, including ServiceNow.
