Position Summary The Blank Inventory Handler is responsible for safely transporting, organizing, and maintaining inventory of cut blanks throughout the production process.
This position supports production by ensuring materials are stored accurately, readily accessible, and delivered to the appropriate work areas.
The Blank Inventory Handler works closely with the Burning Department, Material Control, and Production teams to maintain inventory accuracy and efficient material flow. Key Responsibilities Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment to transport materials throughout the facility. Move cut blanks to designated storage locations while maintaining proper identification and organization. Assist the Burning Department by flipping, staging, and positioning blanks as required to support production.
Maintain accurate inventory of cut blanks and provide inventory counts to Material Control as requested.
Organize and maintain blank storage areas to ensure materials are safely stored, clearly identified, and easily accessible.
Verify material identification, heat numbers, and plate information are maintained throughout the material handling process.
Ensure production departments receive the correct materials in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
Request replenishment of pallets, storage materials, and other required supplies through the Supervisor.
Inspect forklifts, cranes, lifting devices, and rigging equipment before use and report any equipment concerns immediately.
Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment while complying with all company safety policies and procedures.
Communicate inventory discrepancies, damaged materials, equipment concerns, and production issues to the Supervisor promptly.
Support continuous improvement efforts to improve inventory accuracy, material flow, and warehouse organization.
Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, or other material handling equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
Overhead crane experience preferred.
Basic understanding of inventory control and material identification.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with multiple departments.
Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach as required.
Ability to safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
Ability to work in varying temperatures, noise levels, dust, and other industrial manufacturing conditions.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
