Job description

Program Manager

The Program Manager plays a vital role in designing and implementing CACHI's core programmatic and ACH Network initiatives - including learning events, meetings, coaching, and technical assistance - while supporting broader organizational priorities. Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Manager ensures these efforts are well-coordinated, effectively executed, and aligned with CACHI's Strategic Roadmap and commitment to equity.

As CACHI celebrates its ten-year anniversary and advances a new multi-year Strategic Roadmap, this position is essential to carrying out strategic priorities and strengthening the initiative's impact. The Program Manager will help translate learnings into operational improvements, deepen relationships across the ACH Network and with partners, and ensure insights from ACH sites meaningfully shape CACHI's programs, ACH Network activation, and organizational direction.

The ideal candidate is a strong project manager and communicator who is proactive, solutions-oriented, and relationship-driven. They are skilled at managing complex workstreams, navigating ambiguity, making informed decisions to move the work forward, fostering collaboration, and supporting continuous learning and improvement across the ACH Network.

Key Responsibilities:

In close collaboration with the Program Director, the Program Manager will be involved in:

Program Management & ACH Network Coordination (50%)

  • Manage the design, implementation, and evaluation of programmatic efforts (e.g., technical assistance, coaching, meetings, and learning events and webinars) to support ACH sites in advancing local priorities and building the ACH Network
  • Support the development and rollout of initiatives shaped by CACHI's Strategic Roadmap
  • Support data collection, analysis, and interpretation efforts to track outcomes, assess data, and understand the impact of CACHI and the ACHs across the state

Team Collaboration, Operations, & Strategy (30%)

  • Contribute to various activities and conversations related to advancing CACHI's strategic priorities and initiatives
  • Strengthen systems and processes that centralize communication, learning, sharing, and coordination across the CACHI team and ACH Network (e.g., Slack, shared calendars, shared folders and documents)
  • Foster partnership, collaboration, and alignment among the 36 ACH sites to build and advance the goals of the ACH Network
  • Build and maintain relationships to support developing the ACH Network and CACHI's statewide impact in service of its Strategic Roadmap

Knowledge Development, Communications, & Field Building (20%)

  • Help document, track, assess, and incorporate lessons learned and feedback into implementation of organizational priorities and initiatives, ensuring a continuous cycle of learning and quality improvement
  • Contribute to the development of issue briefs, case studies and lessons learned, and other publications to strengthen CACHI's thought leadership in the fields of public health, multi-sector collaboration, and health systems transformation
  • Support field-building and communications activities to engage ACHs, funders, policymakers, partners, and other key stakeholders

Requirements

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proactive self-starter who takes ownership of work by anticipating needs, identifying what requires attention, and driving it forward independently, while exercising sound judgment about when to check in with others
  • At least 3 years of project management experience and strong project management skills, with proven track record of owning work from strategy and concept through to execution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
  • Independent, proactive problem-solver with sound judgment in ambiguous situations
  • Able to collaboratively within teams, as well as the ability to work well independently, including asynchronously
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects at the same time
  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-moving environment
  • Alignment with CACHI's values and commitment to advancing equity, with an ability to work in cross-cultural, diverse environments
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for conferences, convenings, and meetings with partners, funders, and other stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with California's health systems, public health agencies, and/or funders
  • Background in systems thinking, public health, and/or health equity fields
  • Experience with evaluation, data collection, analysis, and reporting
