JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an Administrative Director for Physician & Provider Network management reporting to the DHIP Vice President for Growth and Network Development and partnering closely with the DHIP Chief Financial Officer, Community Chief Medical Officer, and VP of Operations, the Director, Physician & Provider Network Management serves as the single point of accountability for the business and network relationship between Duke Health and an assigned portfolio of community physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs). Organized by specialty and region, the Administrative Director provides concierge-level support to clinicians and is accountable for clinician performance, engagement, retention, and productivity across the network portfolio. This role manages the network arrangements that connect clinicians to Duke Healthemployed agreements, internal MOUs, external Professional Services Agreements (PSAs), and joint venturesand does not oversee clinic site operations. It translates operational, financial, and human-capital strategy into measurable clinician- and network-level outcomes. Core accountabilities include provider compensation plan management and incentive administration, practice- and provider-level financial performance, recruitment execution and ramp-to-productivity, contract review and renegotiation, financial oversight across all arrangements, and stabilization of acquisitions into network management. The Administrative Director partners with the community division chief for physician oversight and leads or supports strategic initiatives such as the APP transformation. Success requires the ability to manage complex business, financial, and human-capital matters and to communicate effectively with DHIP senior leadership, physicians, APPs, and staff in a highly matrixed environment.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the single point of accountability and concierge-level partner for an assigned network portfolio of approximately 100150 community physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) organized by specialty and region. Own clinician performance, engagement, retention, and productivity, working closely with the community division chief and senior physician leadership. Manage provider compensation plans and administer incentive calculations; draft and distribute annual compensation plans; proactively identify and resolve compensation issues; and support compensation model development, benchmarking, and Fair Market Value (FMV) review in partnership with centralized modeling resources. Own practice- and provider-level financial management and performance optimization across the portfolio, including budgeting, wRVU/productivity and expense performance, and financial oversight of all network arrangements (employed, PSA, and joint venture). Manage internal MOUs and external Professional Services Agreements (PSAs) for clinical services, including initial contract review, renegotiation, invoicing and payment to clinicians, and supporting financial modeling. Execute clinician recruitment and ramp-to-productivity in partnership with recruitment, marketing, and senior leadership, ensuring timely onboarding and time-to-productivity in competitive markets. Lead legal, compliance, and issue resolution and clinician performance recovery; serve as liaison across Duke administration, PRMO, DHTS, and external organizations to advance portfolio objectives and resolve issues. Partner in strategic planning and project-based work for large initiatives (e.g., the APP transformation); stabilize acquisitions and transition acquired practices to network management, driving operational alignment for growth, access, quality, and sustainability.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree required. A Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or a related field is preferred. Seven years of physician/provider services, medical group, or healthcare administration experience, including provider compensation, financial analysis, and physician/APP relationship management. Experience in a large, multi-specialty group, health system, or academic medical center is preferred. Deep experience in provider compensation plan design, incentive administration, and Fair Market Value (FMV) and benchmarking practice (e.g., SullivanCotter, MGMA). Strong financial analysis, modeling, and budgeting skills, including provider-level productivity (wRVU) and expense performance. Working knowledge of physician and provider network contractingemployment agreements, MOUs, PSAs, and joint venturesand applicable regulatory guardrails (Stark, Anti-Kickback, FMV). Proven ability to build trusted relationships with, and influence, physicians and APPs. Political savvy and effectiveness in ambiguous, highly matrixed environments; ability to work with diverse stakeholders. Excellent oral and written communication and executive presence. Ability to manage a large, multi-specialty clinician network portfolio at a highly autonomous level.

JOB HOURS

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
