Job description

About the position

Urgently seeking a hands-on Controls Engineer who can design, program, debug, and support complex automated equipment from concept through customer launch. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, working with PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, robotics, smart devices, and machine networks, and seeing automation systems come to life on the plant floor.

What You’ll Do

  • Design electrical and fluid-power control systems that meet project specifications, customer requirements, quality standards, cost targets, and schedule commitments.
  • Develop, program, document, start up, and debug machine control systems for automated assembly, transport systems, test stands, and robotic applications.
  • Create and support control system architecture including power distribution, logic circuits, safety circuits, I/O layouts, pneumatic circuits, PLC and PC-based controls, HMI/MMI programs, servo controls, machine networks, smart devices, and IoT applications.
  • Apply customer design/build standards and collaborate with Controls Engineering leadership to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Identify purchased components that meet engineering requirements and support the requisition process.
  • Interface professionally with customers’ technical teams and provide support to internal engineering and project groups.
  • Manage your project schedule, communicate progress regularly, participate in project reviews, and apply lessons learned to improve future designs.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelors or Associate degree in a related engineering field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Training or experience designing machine control systems for automotive automation applications.
  • AutoCAD ability- to create electrical and fluid-power schematics
  • PLC logic, PC-based controls, HMI/MMI systems programming experience along with debugging safety controllers, servo controllers, robot controllers, smart devices, IoT applications, and machine vision systems.
  • Strong organizational skills, customer relations skills, communication skills, and technical writing ability.
  • Professional appearance and attitude when working with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in English.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license recognized in the United States or Canada.
  • Valid passport, with willingness and ability to travel to customer, supplier, and affiliate locations outside the United States as needed.
  • Willingness to travel for start-up, debug, validation, and production support assignments.

Benefits

This opportunity includes a generous benefits package designed to support employees’ health, financial well-being, and long-term career growth.
