Job description

SCOPE OF WORKThe purpose of this position is to provide CSET/SCC Trainees with comprehensive career placement and employment assistance. The incumbent is responsible for developing and maintaining employer relationships, identifying and securing employment opportunities, connecting Trainees with appropriate job openings, marketing CSET/SCC programs and services to prospective employers, and coordinating employment-related resources to support successful job placement and retention.ACCOUNTABILITIESDevelops employment opportunities and facilitates successful placement of SCC Trainees into unsubsidized employment by matching Trainee skills/experience and interests/qualifications with employer needs and availabilityEstablishes and maintains ongoing relationships with employers, businesses, industry representatives, workforce partners, and training agencies to identify employment opportunities and promote the hiring of SCC TraineesConducts proactive employer outreach, including cold calls, employer visits, networking, job fairs, and other business engagement activities to develop job leads and expand employment opportunities for TraineesMarkets SCC programs, Trainee skills, and available employment support services to prospective employers; communicates program benefits and works with employers to identify and address workforce needsResearches employment opportunities through employers, online job boards, CalJOBS, partner agencies, labor market information, and other available resources; obtains information regarding job requirements, qualifications, wages, schedules, and required skillsRefers qualified Trainees to appropriate employment opportunities, coordinates and arranges interviews, and conducts timely follow-up with Trainees and employers to support successful placement and retentionProvides individualized employment counseling and job-readiness assistance, including resume development, interview preparation, job search strategies, employment applications, and navigation of CalJOBS and other employment websitesDevelops and maintains Individual Employment Plans and other employment or training-related plans and agreements, including Work Experience, Transitional Job, On-the-Job Training (OJT), and other applicable contractsAssesses Trainee employment readiness by reviewing work history, education, training, certifications, interests, aptitudes, transferable skills, barriers to employment, and career goals to identify employment opportunitiesMonitors Trainee progress and performance in employment and work-based training placements and maintains regular communication with employers and Trainees to identify concerns, provide support, and promote successful employment retentionWorks collaboratively with Trainees, employers, program staff, and program leadership to address performance concerns, identify necessary supports, strengthen workplace skills, and determine appropriate employment options when neededMonitors workplace training and subsidized employment placements for compliance with applicable program requirements, safety standards, labor laws, adequate supervision, training plans, and contractual requirementsDocuments Trainee acquisition of employment-related skills, knowledge, work experience, and employment outcomes in accordance with program and funding requirementsCollects and processes Trainee timecards and other required employment documentation accurately and timely; tracks hours worked and ensures required supporting documentation is completeMaintains accurate and timely case files and electronic records documenting Trainee contacts, employer outreach, job referrals, interviews, placements, retention activities, partner communications, and other required servicesInputs complete and accurate information regarding Trainee services, employer contacts, business outreach, job development activities, and employment outcomes into applicable databases and tracking systemsConducts required follow-up with Trainees and employers to verify employment status, job retention, wages, hours, and other required employment outcomes, and communicates results to appropriate staff and partnering agenciesPrepares and maintains required correspondence, reports, contracts, case documentation, employer records, and other program-related documentsServes as a liaison between Trainees, employers, SCC staff, and partnering agencies to address employment-related questions, concerns, and barriers and coordinate appropriate resources and servicesRefers Trainees to appropriate CSET/SCC programs, community resources, supportive services, and partner agencies when additional assistance is needed to obtain or maintain employmentFacilitates employment orientations, job-readiness workshops, career development activities, and other presentations designed to prepare Trainees for successful entry into the workforceParticipates in employer outreach activities, recruitment events, job fairs, community events, and meetings with workforce and community partners as assignedMaintains current knowledge of SCC programs, employment and training requirements, labor market trends, employer needs, and applicable regulations affecting Trainees and participating employersParticipates in required training and professional development to maintain and strengthen the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively perform job development and placement responsibilitiesCollaborates with and provides cross-functional support to colleagues as needed, including assisting with program activities, participant services, coverage, and time-sensitive priorities to support effective program operations and continuity of servicesPerforms other duties as assigned and complies with established work schedules, attendance expectations, operating procedures, organizational policies, and applicable program requirementsSKILLS & ABILITIESStrong communication, interpersonal, networking, and relationship-building skillsAbility to represent CSET/SCC professionally and maintain effective working relationships with Trainees, employers, colleagues, partner agencies, and the publicStrong customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally, respectfully, and patiently with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiencesKnowledge of local labor market conditions, employer expectations, workforce development practices, and job-search resourcesStrong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills with attention to accuracy and detailAbility to work independently with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, take initiative, and meet established deadlinesAbility to work collaboratively as part of a team, adapt to changing priorities, and provide support to colleagues as neededStrong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups and prepare clear professional documentationProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, electronic databases, internet-based employment resources, and other technology required for the positionAbility to understand and apply organizational policies, procedures, program requirements, and applicable professional and ethical standardsAbility to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive participant and employer informationWORK CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with California and federal law.
