Job description
Job Title: Senior Web Application Developer Location: Charlotte, NC Work Arrangement: Hybrid Duration: Long-Term Contract Job description: Client is seeking a Senior Web Application Developer for a long-term contract opportunity with a leading Charlotte-area organization. This role will focus on developing modern, responsive web applications and sites while partnering closely with design, QA, business stakeholders, and other technology teams. The ideal candidate brings strong front-end development expertise combined with experience in responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, web performance, SEO, APIs, and modern JavaScript frameworks. Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and within complex enterprise technology environments is highly valued. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain responsive web applications and websites that deliver engaging user experiences. Translate business and design requirements into scalable web solutions, including enterprise portals, search functionality, mobile experiences, and interactive forms. Develop modern web applications using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and JavaScript frameworks. Ensure applications meet current standards for responsive design, mobile interfaces, accessibility, cross-browser compatibility, and page performance. Apply SEO best practices to web application architecture, coding, and content presentation. Integrate web applications with REST APIs and other enterprise services using technologies such as AJAX, XML, JSON, and related web standards. Develop reusable JavaScript libraries, components, and UI functionality to promote consistency and development efficiency. Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, QA professionals, business analysts, and other development teams throughout the software development lifecycle. Create and execute unit tests using established testing frameworks and participate in troubleshooting and defect resolution. Utilize source control systems such as Git, SVN, or TFS. Rapidly prototype solutions and effectively demonstrate web designs and functionality to clients and stakeholders. Provide guidance on web development standards, industry best practices, governance, architecture, and technology direction. Evaluate technology solutions, perform benefit analysis, and provide recommendations to improve web applications and the overall user experience. Stay current with emerging web technologies, development frameworks, industry standards, and best practices. Participate in an Agile/Scrum delivery environment and collaborate effectively across technical and business teams. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other developers and supervise staff as assigned. Participate in recruiting, performance reviews, and other team leadership activities as needed. Support travel to client or business locations as required. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered. Progressive professional experience in front-end and web application development. Strong experience developing responsive, enterprise-level web applications. Advanced knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks. Strong understanding of responsive design, fluid layouts, mobile interfaces, and cross-browser compatibility. Experience with SEO concepts and SEO-focused web development. Experience developing and consuming REST APIs and working with AJAX, XML, JSON, XSD, XSL, and XPath. Experience with MVC frameworks and template engines. Experience creating CSS3 animations and interactive web experiences. Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and scripting. Experience with relational databases, data modeling, and advanced SQL queries and stored procedures. Experience with Git, SVN, TFS, or comparable source control platforms. Experience creating and executing unit tests. Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts and prototypes to clients and stakeholders. Preferred Technical Experience JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, Ember.js, jQuery, or comparable modern frameworks. UI frameworks such as Bootstrap and Foundation. Adobe Photoshop or comparable graphic editing/prototyping tools. Programming experience with one or more of Java, .NET/C#, PHP, or Ruby. Experience creating reusable in-house JavaScript libraries and components. Experience configuring and hosting web applications using IIS and/or Apache. Experience working within Agile/Scrum development teams. Experience in complex enterprise or higher-education technology environments.
