Job description

You want to learn a real trade, and you’re the kind of person who asks questions, pays attention, and wants to get better every week. You don’t need foundation repair experience. You need to care about doing the work right, including the parts nobody will ever see.

Heartland Foundation Repair is hiring a Foundation Repair Apprentice to learn our foam work and grow into running the foam rig on your own. The one thing we can’t teach on the job is towing and backing a 50-foot truck and trailer, so that experience is important.

We’re a small crew in the Kansas City metro that fixes failing foundations with piering, waterproofing, and foam. We tell homeowners the truth about their house, even when it costs us the job.

Full-time, non-exempt field position based out of our shop in Johnson County, KS, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm.

WHAT THE WORK LOOKS LIKE

You’ll start on the smaller foam jobs: crack injections, Zytex wall penetrations, demo, and finish work, learning hands-on from the operator who runs the rig every day. Most days you’re on the rig, backing the truck and trailer onto residential lots and working in tight basements and crawl spaces. Between jobs, you keep the warehouse stocked and the rig maintained. As your skills grow, you’ll take on more until you’re running the rig yourself.

WHO BELONGS HERE

  • You’re hungry to learn and want to get good at a skilled trade.

  • Asking questions comes naturally, and you listen closely to the answers.

  • Feedback helps you improve, and you’re open to learning a new way of doing things.

  • Honesty matters to you, with customers and with your crew.

  • When you see something that needs doing, you jump in.

  • Safety is something you take seriously, especially around foam chemistry.

  • Getting dirty in tight basements and crawl spaces doesn’t bother you.

  • Mistakes happen, and when you make one, you own it and fix it.

  • Pride in your work drives you, even on the parts nobody will ever see.

WHY WORK AT HEARTLAND

  • Hands-on training from an experienced foam rig operator

  • A clear path from apprentice to running the rig yourself

  • Company truck, foam rig, and equipment provided

  • Full-time, Monday through Friday schedule with no weekends

  • Small crew where your work matters and gets noticed

Compensation:

$20 - $30 hourly

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the execution of foundation repair projects, ensuring quality and precision in every task.

  • Drive and maneuver a 50-foot truck and trailer, demonstrating skill and safety in various environments.
  • Engage in hands-on training, actively seeking feedback to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all safety protocols, prioritizing the well-being of yourself and your team members.

Qualifications:

  • Experience safely towing and backing a 50-foot truck and trailer, or a willingness to learn

About Company

Heartland Foundation Repair fixes the scariest, most expensive problem in a house: a failing foundation, with piering, waterproofing, and foam. We win over the cheaper bid because homeowners trust us to give them a straight diagnosis, a fair price, and a repair that holds. We're a small crew running a real business and building toward a bigger one: crew chiefs running the field, foam operators, and a warehouse that's ready before the morning starts. If you want to learn a trade for real and build a career instead of working a gig, this is where you start.
