Job Description:

• Measures neurological responses to external stimuli and trace electrical pathways.
• Scans, correlates, and clips studies accurately. Observes EEG tracings and respond appropriately to seizure activity.
• Explains testing procedures to patients and families using age-appropriate guidelines.
• Performs studies with appropriate documentation, observes patients, troubleshoots equipment and physiological artifacts, and utilizes appropriate resources.
• Evaluates recorded diagnostic data and reports abnormal findings to nurses and physicians.
• Recognizes and takes appropriate actions to respond to evolving patient care needs.
• Teaches and directs the work of other staff and students as requested.
• Maintains diagnostic testing equipment and supplies.
• Conducts long-term monitoring in epilepsy and intensive/critical care units.
• Monitors patients in Epilepsy Monitoring Units (EMUs) while adhering to protocols and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Maintains accurate archive and retrieval systems for original EEG tracings.
• Attends monthly staff meetings and other meetings as requested.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• • Ability to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operation, and quality control to ensure that information is obtained and presented accurately
• • Ability to use technologies to measure brain activities and circulation
• • Ability to train and mentor staff and students through specialized imaging
• • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals
• • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry
• • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English
• • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
• • Ability to perform quality END procedures to include but not limited to EEG, Ambulatory EEG, LTM, and NCS following ACNS and AANEM guidelines

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience:

• 2+ experience in performance of procedures in a patient care environment [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Registered Electroencephalography Technician (REEGT) [Preferred]
• American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic & Evoked Potential Technologis (ABRET) [Preferred]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]

Pay Range:

$21.77 - $40.48
