Job Description Job Title Operating Room Registered Nurse Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a dynamic 13-week contract assignment in a busy surgical department in Chicago, Illinois. This role is based within the RMIL Surgery unit, which handles a diverse range of complex cases including open heart, multiple medical, and orthopedic surgeries. The successful candidate will provide expert perioperative nursing care, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes in a fast-paced environment. This position requires strong clinical skills, adaptability, and proficiency in EPIC electronic health record system. Key Responsibilities Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing a wide variety of surgical procedures, including open heart, medical, and orthopedic surgeries. Prepare the operating room, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile. Assist surgeons and surgical teams during procedures, anticipating needs and maintaining a sterile field. Monitor patient's physiological status during surgery and respond to changes appropriately. Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly in the EPIC electronic health record system. Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, scrub techs, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and high-quality patient care. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Required Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license. Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care Operating Room (OR) experience. Proficiency and experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
