A Brief Summary of This Position:

We are seeking a dedicated and strategic Environment & Sustainability Manager to lead and implement environmental and sustainability programs across the North and South Americas region. This role is responsible for supporting compliance with environmental regulations, driving sustainability initiatives, and supporting environmental and sustainability strategies with broader business objectives. This role serves as the Americas lead for Valmont's global environmental and sustainability programs, partnering closely with the International Environment & Sustainability Manager to support globally aligned strategy, governance, and execution across all operating regions. This position operates as a peer to the International role, with shared accountability for global performance and consistency. Reporting to the Global Director Environment & Sustainability, this role translates global strategy into regional execution while providing strategic input to shape enterprise environmental direction.

The ideal candidate will have a mastery of environmental regulations, corporate reporting frameworks, and the ability to collaborate effectively with and influence cross-functional teams. In addition to leading environmental and sustainability initiatives, this individual will provide technical expertise and guidance to regional EHS leadership, site EHS teams, commercial partners, and other business leaders, ensuring consistent interpretation and execution of environmental and sustainability compliance requirements across global operations.

The expected focus for the role is approximately 70% environmental and 30% sustainability.

Essential Functions:

• This position reports to the Global Director Environment & Sustainability and operates as a senior leader within a globally distributed model partnering with the International Environment & Sustainability Manager to ensure alignment across regions. May also work collaboratively under the guidance of other EHS leadership functions. The role has no direct reports but serves as a key influencer across operational, commercial, and functional teams globally.
• Serves as an internal consultant and subject matter expert, providing technical expertise and guidance to site EHS teams, regional EHS leadership, commercial partners, and business leaders to support environmental compliance and sustainability alignment.
• Acts as the Americas functional leader for environmental & sustainability programs providing direction, coaching & performance across a matrixed EHS organization without direct reporting authority.
• Leads efforts to bolster the environmental acumen of Valmont EHS professionals, aligning knowledge levels with health and safety competencies.
• Remains abreast of global environmental and sustainability regulatory trendsleveraging a third-party service providerand drives risk-based impact assessments and enterprise communication strategies through web-based training, newsletters, stakeholder briefings, and other communication channels.
• Influence environmental and sustainability standards, procedures and playbooks, ensuring consistent implementation and compliance across the Americas.
• Leads the Americas PFAS activities, including jurisdictional guidance and timely, accurate reporting for all impacted operations.
• Develops and maintains a centralized system for tracking environmental and sustainability projects, enabling accurate disclosures for the Annual Sustainability Report, CDP, S&P CSA, and other frameworks.
• Provides leadership and subject matter expertise in sustainability-related initiatives such as assessments, strategy development, employee engagement, climate reporting, green building, and training.
• Partners with the International counterpart in supporting a global operating model, including governance structures, KPIs, reporting framework, and standard work across regions.
• Manages Valmont's Americas environmental stewardship programs and drives performance toward proactive and predictive environmental management.
• Conducts environmental risk assessments, leads or supports incident investigations, and contributes to environmental insurance reviews in coordination with Corporate Risk.
• Collaborates closely with site-level EHS personnel to align local actions with regional environmental and sustainability goals, ensuring consistent program execution.
• Identifies and leads initiatives focused on waste reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, and emissions reduction across operations.
• Prepares and delivers communications such as presentations, webinars, technical reports, and proposal materials that convey Valmont's environmental and sustainability strategy and performance.
• Represents Valmont at external trade associations, regulatory & community meetings, and industry conferences to ensure alignment with emerging best practices and regulatory developments.
• Supports the development, promotion, and recognition of Valmont's Annual Sustainability Award, including nomination, review and selection process.
• Ensures applicable environmental permits are in place and that sites operate in compliance to permit conditions, including inspections, recordkeeping and reporting.
• Lead in-region property acquisition or divestiture projects in accordance with Valmont due diligence standards.
• Contract with and manage third-party consultants from RFP to project termination for a broad scope of environmental projects, including site remediation.
• Supports cross-regional and enterprise-wide initiatives in partnership with the international counterpart, including system implementations and global reporting programs.
• Exercises delegated decision making authority on environmental compliance, program prioritization and risk mitigation within the region, escalating critical issues as appropriate.
• Requires up to 40% international/domestic travel including overnight stays, to engage with sites, regions, and global stakeholders.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

• BS degree with 7+ years of relevant technical experience or AS degree with 10+ years of relevant technical experience
• Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-region or global programs with enterprise impact.
• Ability to manage a regional environmental and sustainability program in a global business
• Understanding of key environmental and sustainability issues and how they can be integrated into business to create measurable value
• Problem-solver who offers solutions to identified obstacles.
• Unquestionable integrity, discretion, ethical and professional approach to business, commitment to clients and personal credibility

Highly qualified candidate:

• Advanced degree (e.g., MS or MBA) in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, or a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in environmental and sustainability roles, ideally within a matrixed global organization.
• Proven track record of driving enterprise-wide initiatives and achieving measurable business outcomes. and influencing cross-functional teams.
