Location: Carthage, MS 3865 Hwy 35
Duration: 14 weeks with possible extension
Schedule: Tuesday & Thursday, 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $40/hour on W2
Work Setting: On-site

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Adult ESL Instructor to provide English as a Second Language (ESL) and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) instruction to adult frontline employees at a local facility.

The instructor will create a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that promotes English-language development, workplace communication, student engagement, retention, belonging, and cross-cultural understanding.

This is an on-site position. Instruction will be conducted at the assigned facility and is not offered online.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver 6–15 hours of ESL/ESP instruction per week to adult employees at the assigned facility.
• Develop, customize, and adapt instructional materials based on adult learners' English-language abilities and workplace needs.
• Teach essential English-language skills, including:
  • Grammar
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Listening
  • Speaking
• Create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and continuous learning.
• Promote student engagement, community building, belonging, and retention.
• Support learners before and throughout testing and assessment periods.
• Incorporate workplace-specific English and communication skills into instruction when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate attendance, student records, and other required documentation.
• Perform accurate live data entry and administrative tasks using Microsoft Office and related systems.
• Complete required oral-assessment onboarding, norming, and program training.
• Communicate effectively with facility partners and the corporate education/program team.
• Follow all facility security, safety, and operational policies and procedures.
• Work independently while maintaining strong communication and coordination with relevant stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of adult ESL teaching strategies, methodologies, and best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively teach grammar, reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
• Strong English fluency with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with adult English-language learners from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to support learners' engagement, sense of belonging, and retention.
• Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accurate data entry.
• Ability to work independently and manage instructional responsibilities effectively.
• Willingness and ability to complete required training, onboarding, and assessment-related requirements.
• Ability to comply with facility security, safety, and operational requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English, Education, TESOL, or a related field.
• TESOL certificate or comparable ESL teaching credential.
• 3+ years of adult ESL teaching experience.
• Experience teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) or workplace English.
• Proficiency in a second language.
• Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
• Excellent organization, planning, and time-management abilities.
• Strong technology and administrative skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication abilities.
