At Olive & Finch, we believe in inclusive leadership, sustainable growth, and nourishing both our guests and our teams.Position SummaryThe Cashier at Little Finch Café is responsible for providing exceptional guest service while accurately managing point-of-sale transactions and cash handling. This dynamic role performs all Little Finch FOH Crew responsibilities-including greeting guests, running food, and maintaining café cleanliness-along with light food preparation and plating. The Cashier takes on the added responsibility of ringing in orders, processing payments, selling gift cards, and maintaining precise cash drawer accuracy. As a Crew Level 1 position, the Cashier plays an essential role in ensuring smooth café operations and a positive guest experience.Key ResponsibilitiesPOS & Transaction Management: Accurately ring all orders into the POS system and process payments (cash, credit card, gift card, etc.).Financial Accountability: Open, balance, and close cash drawers following Olive & Finch cash handling procedures. Reconcile cash at the end of shifts and report any discrepancies promptly.FOH Crew Duties: Perform core café responsibilities, including greeting guests warmly, bussing tables, running food and beverages, and keeping the café environment clean and organized.Food Prep & Plating: Assist with light food assembly by heating pastries and plating ready-made foods and salads to brand standards.Bar & Coffee Station Upkeep: Maintain absolute cleanliness and organization of the coffee and cocktail bar areas, including deep-cleaning equipment and restocking supplies.Beverage Crafting & Mixology: Prepare and serve coffee, specialty espresso drinks, and artisan cocktails according to Olive & Finch recipes, build guides, and presentation standards.Guest Relations: Provide friendly, efficient service, sell gift cards, manage inventory as directed, and resolve basic guest concerns smoothly.Safety & Sanitation: Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures for cash handling, guest service, and light food preparation.Teamwork: Collaborate actively with FOH and BOH teams to ensure smooth shift operations and uphold brand values.QualificationsPrevious cashier, POS, or money-handling experience preferred but not required.Excellent guest service, multi-tasking, and communication skills.Strong attention to detail and ability to manage cash accuratelyfortable handling light food preparation and café plating tasks.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stay calm under pressure.Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs.Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.Must be able to pass a background checkCompetencies / Core ValuesTrustworthy and highly detail-oriented with money handling.Guest-focused and service-oriented.Collaborative and team-minded.Reliable, punctual, and committed to excellence.Positive attitude and willingness to learn. This position does not have direct reports.Work Environment & Physical RequirementsThis is a hands-on, guest-facing position requiring extended periods of standing, walking, handling cash transactions, and working around light kitchen equipment (such as ovens or toasters) to assist with food prep. Must be able to bend, lift, and move quickly to support café service.
