Mechanical 24 Inc. is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Rack Technician to join our service team in Dundee, IL. This role is ideal for a skilled refrigeration professional who has hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining supermarket and grocery store refrigeration rack systems. What You’ll Do

• Diagnose, service, repair, and maintain supermarket and grocery store refrigeration rack systems.
• Troubleshoot medium- and low-temperature refrigeration systems, including parallel compressor racks, walk-in coolers/freezers, display cases, condensers, evaporators, and related components.
• Identify and resolve system issues involving pressures, temperatures, defrost cycles, airflow, oil management, compressor staging, controls, and electrical components.
• Perform refrigerant leak detection, recovery, evacuation, charging, and repairs in accordance with applicable regulations and safety standards.
• Replace or repair compressors, fan motors, expansion valves, solenoid valves, contactors, sensors, transducers, boards, and other refrigeration components.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, refrigeration schematics, controller logs, and service documentation.
• Respond promptly to service calls and emergency refrigeration issues to minimize equipment downtime and reduce risk of product loss.
• Complete accurate service reports, work orders, and documentation using company systems.
• Follow all company safety procedures, customer site requirements, and environmental compliance standards.
• Participate in an on-call rotation as needed for after-hours emergency service.

What We’re Looking For

• Required: Prior hands-on experience with supermarket or grocery store refrigeration rack systems.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial refrigeration, including medium- and low-temperature systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex refrigeration, electrical, and control system issues independently.
• Experience working with rack systems, compressors, condensers, evaporators, case circuits, walk-ins, defrost controls, and energy management systems.
• EPA Section 608 certification preferred or required based on job duties and local requirements.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites as needed.
• Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work in coolers, freezers, mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other commercial service environments.
• Ability to lift, carry, climb, bend, stand, and safely use tools and equipment as required for the position.
• Availability for occasional overtime, nights, weekends, or on-call service based on business needs.
