Salary: $70,000 - 110,000 per year
Requirements:
- We are open to candidates at all experience levels, though about 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and building custom robots is preferred.
- We want strong capability in at least two of these areas: embedded/electrical, robotics/software, or mechanical/mechatronics.
- We look for experience bringing up microcontrollers, working with embedded C/C++, and using motor drivers, CAN, SPI, and I2C.
- We value familiarity with real-time motor and sensor control, ROS2, ZMQ, Docker, and broader robotics software stacks.
- We prefer hands-on CAD and a track record of designing or building physical mechanisms that move, carry load, and hold up in use.
- We care most about proof that you build things that work, such as custom motor controllers, robots, products shipped from schematic to production, or major hardware builds.
- We are especially interested in robotics, mechatronics, electrical, computer engineering, or computer science backgrounds, as well as mechanical engineers with strong embedded/electrical projects.
- We also welcome industry engineers from automotive, aerospace, medical devices, or consumer hardware, along with self-taught builders who can show concrete results.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer, and we are not able to sponsor employment visas at this time.
Responsibilities:
- We expect you to take ownership of making the robot work as a founding engineering hire.
- We want you to design and bring up STM32G474 controller boards, configure DRV8353 gate drivers, and write bare-metal or RTOS firmware in C/C++.
- We need you to turn low-cost brushed and BLDC actuators into high-quality servo systems with positional, torque, and power sensing.
- We want you to connect the low-level control layer to our Jetson Orin compute stack and troubleshoot latency and reliability issues between firmware and higher-level autonomy.
- We expect you to iterate on our PCB revisions, including MCU, power, and motor-driver boards, from schematic capture through layout, fabrication, and bring-up.
- We want you to help close the sim-to-real loop with Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab through instrumentation, system identification, and hardware validation.
- We expect you to capture oscilloscope data from motor controllers and work with AI engineers to align simulation performance with the real robot.
- We want you to work hands-on with the mechanical platform, including CAD, vCarve, Bambu, Inkscape, Blender, and related tools to design, print, assemble, and test robots.
- We expect you to evaluate prototypes under load, identify failure points, and redesign components until they reliably handle construction tasks.
