Registered Nurse - Postpartum Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Postpartum care for a 13-week travel assignment at Hutzel Nursing Office (HUZ) in Detroit, Michigan. This role is crucial for supporting new mothers and their infants during the immediate postpartum period. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care, focusing on maternal recovery, newborn assessment, and extensive patient education. You will play a vital role in ensuring a safe and supportive environment for families transitioning into parenthood, working collaboratively within a dynamic healthcare team. Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to postpartum mothers and their newborns, adhering to established protocols and standards. Monitor and assess maternal physiological recovery, including vital signs, uterine involution, lochia, and pain management. Perform comprehensive newborn assessments, including vital signs, feeding patterns, weight, and general well-being. Educate new parents on newborn care, breastfeeding/bottle-feeding techniques, postpartum recovery, and potential warning signs for both mother and infant. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, accurately documenting all interventions and patient responses. Provide emotional support and resources to new families, addressing concerns and promoting positive parent-infant bonding. Collaborate effectively with physicians, lactation consultants, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care. Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health record (EHR) documentation. Required Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license. Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in Postpartum nursing. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. Preferred Qualifications Not specified.
