Manager, Benefits
The Manager, Benefits is responsible for oversight of the administration and compliance requirements related to the Employee Benefit Plan, Wellness Programming, Retirement Plan, Leave of Absence (LOA) program, and Workers Compensation benefits. This includes supervision of the benefits and LOA teams and requires close collaboration with the Payroll and Business Solutions team to ensure benefit plans are administered properly and payroll deductions are accurately withheld from employees' pay. In addition, the incumbent works with Human Resources leadership on strategic planning, budgeting, benefit plan designs, and evaluating broker/vendor relationships and contracts.
Responsibilities include managing the Benefits and Leave of Absence (LOA) teams, overseeing daily operations pertaining to the Employee Benefit Plan administration, working directly with the Business Solutions team and benefit team to ensure plan configuration, maintenance, and optimization of benefits and absence applications within the HRIS platform, monitoring benefit trends, leading the Open Enrollment process, ensuring Retirement Plans are being administered according to the summary plan descriptions, overseeing the administration and compliance requirements of the frozen pension plan, overseeing Leave of Absence (LOA) programing, ensuring accurate record keeping and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, designing workforce trainings on benefits, LOA, FMLA, and associated compliance matters, and analyzing benefits data to identify trends, cost drivers, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications include a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or similar certification, a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, a Master's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred, minimum 6 years of benefits administration experience required, preferably in the healthcare industry, and minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required.
