The Overnight Coordinator (OC) serves as the primary leader responsible for evening operations, overnight safety, and morning program readiness during Cal-Wood school programs. Working closely with instructors, kitchen staff, and teachers, the Overnight Coordinator oversees dinner service, facilitates evening programs, responds to overnight emergencies, and ensures the campus is secure and prepared for the following day. The Overnight Coordinator exercises independent judgment and discretion in managing evening operations, allocating staff resources, resolving participant concerns, responding to emergencies, and ensuring compliance with Cal-Wood safety standards and state regulations. This position requires excellent leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and decisive in emergency situations. The Overnight Coordinator provides supervision and support for evening instructional staff while serving as the primary overnight safety contact for students, teachers, and staff. This person will work 4:30-10:00pm Monday through Thursday nights and 7:30-9:30am Tuesday-Friday morning. In addition, this position will be first on call for overnight emergencies.

Responsibilities include serving as the primary overnight leader responsible for student and staff safety after daytime programming concludes, coordinating and overseeing dinner service, making clear announcements for meals, evening activities, fire drills, and emergency situations, leading or supervising evening programs, training, coaching, and supporting evening instructional staff, building positive relationships with teachers, parent chaperones, and students while providing outstanding customer service, maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants, ensuring consistent implementation of Cal-Wood policies and behavioral expectations, completing evening campus safety checks, remaining on-site overnight and serving as the first responder for medical incidents, behavioral concerns, facility issues, weather events, wildlife encounters, or other emergencies, assessing incidents, providing emergency care within the scope of Wilderness First Responder certification, and coordinating emergency response when necessary. The Overnight Coordinator also communicates promptly with Cal-Wood leadership regarding emergencies or significant overnight incidents, maintains accurate incident reports, communicates overnight updates to the daytime leadership team, prepares breakfast service by coordinating with kitchen staff, assists with morning announcements and helps ensure programs begin on time, restocks and organizes program supplies as needed, participates in regular communication with the School Programs Manager regarding program quality, safety concerns, staffing needs, and operational improvements.

Qualities and qualifications include current Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification or higher required, current CPR certification required, experience supervising youth in outdoor, residential, or camp settings, demonstrated experience responding to emergencies and making sound decisions under pressure, strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills, excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, ability to supervise and mentor seasonal instructional staff, bilingual (Spanish-English) strongly preferred, individuals from underrepresented communities are encouraged to apply, highly motivated, dependable, adaptable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision, ability to pass required background checks, ability to hike up to 2 miles on uneven terrain, lift up to 50 pounds, and work outdoors in all weather conditions, including at night, reliable high-clearance vehicle (AWD or 4WD preferred) for commuting on steep mountain roads.

Compensation: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on housing. There may be an option for shared housing with a private room onsite or nearby in Jamestown, CO (housing available for employee only, no pets allowed).
