Fifth-Grade Homeroom Teacher / Science Teacher, Grades 5–8St. Clare of Assisi–St. Francis Xavier School, a Catholic elementary school serving students in Pre-K through Grade 8 in the Bronx, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic educator to serve as a fifth-grade homeroom teacher and science teacher for Grades 5–8 for the 2026–2027 school year.The successful candidate will create a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom environment; provide standards-aligned science instruction; and help students develop scientific knowledge, inquiry skills, critical thinking, and curiosity about the world around them.Responsibilities include:Serving as the fifth-grade homeroom teacher and supporting students' academic, social, and emotional growthTeaching science to students in Grades 5–8Planning and delivering engaging, standards-aligned lessonsIncorporating hands-on investigations, laboratory activities, scientific inquiry, and real-world applicationsUsing assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instructionProviding appropriate scaffolds and differentiation for students with varying learning needs, including multilingual learnersMaintaining clear classroom routines and high expectations for learning and behaviorCommunicating regularly and professionally with familiesCollaborating with colleagues, school leadership, and student-support personnelParticipating fully in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and the faith life of the schoolSupporting the Catholic identity, values, and mission of the schoolQualifications:Bachelor's degree requiredNew York State teacher certification preferredExperience teaching upper-elementary or middle-school students preferredStrong classroom-management, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to design engaging lessons for students with diverse academic and language needsCommitment to academic excellence, student well-being, professional collaboration, and Catholic educationThe ideal candidate is warm but firm, dependable, well-organized, and able to build positive relationships with students and families. We are looking for an educator who holds high expectations, values teamwork, and will become an active and supportive member of our school community.Salary is commensurate with education and experience and follows applicable Archdiocese of New York guidelines.
