THE ROLE:

AMD’s Cores Organization delivers industry leading CPU’s, Caches, and Chiplets that are the foundation of AMD’s server, client, and gaming business. We are looking for an experienced Program Manager to join this innovative team to lead key innovation and execution initiatives and to enhance our existing strong track record of program delivery. The role is focused on delivering programs, capability, and quality through RTL, Verification, and Post-Silicon program management. The candidate will join the team based in Fort Collins, CO.

THE PERSON:

The candidate has successful experience in technical program management and an outstanding track record of delivering sophisticated software/hardware programs. We are pushing the envelope on chip performance, so the status quo must be challenged on every program. This environment requires creativity and innovation, advanced and earnest communication skills, and an abundance mindset. The candidate has strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and enjoys using those skills to accomplish goals that many might not think possible. Our team delivers critical designs for multiple AMD products and our team is growing both in capability and size, so the candidate must have the ability and desire to guide and develop people and teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Defines, plans and drives projects and program plans based on management and senior technical guidance
  • Scope technical feasibility of new Products by clarifying and analyzing requirements with SW/HW Architects, Technical Leads and Engineers
  • Develop program schedule by considering various Driver, SW Stack components and HW/FW dependencies, negotiate and create a staffing plan that supports the schedule
  • Building, creating, and maintaining a well-developed, managed and executed program plan is critical
  • You will establish formal program management artifacts including a plan of record, statements of work, project/program timelines, budget, scope, performance, and quality KPIs
  • Excellence in resource planning is necessary
  • The successful candidate must also plan for risks in the development path, identify prevention methods, and address them to save on engineering costs
  • Being comfortable working with senior executives is a hard requirement. You must address the needs and requirements called upon from AMD's Engineering, Product Management and Customer Engineering organizations

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Good understanding of requirements management, documentation management, and defect management
  • Ability to grasp concepts during discussions and turn minutes into action items
  • Able to communicate concepts and processes with stakeholders
  • Analytical, self-motivated, organized, detailed-oriented and results-oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with multiple people and teams, ability to communicate progress to team members on a regular basis
  • Experience working in a high-pressure environment and competing priorities and tight turnaround times
  • Engineering background preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, JIRA, Confluence and Excel is an asset
  • Experience with Agile methodology

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering Preferred
  • Formal Project Management education, PMP certified preferred
