Blast It Clean is looking for dependable, hardworking individuals to join our team at our Bridgeview, Illinois location. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys hands-on work, working as part of a team, and learning new skills in the industrial construction and coatings industry. Our crews perform industrial sandblasting, surface preparation, painting, and protective coating work for commercial and industrial clients. The work takes place in a variety of job-site environments, both indoors and outdoors. Employees should be comfortable with physically demanding work and working in different conditions throughout the year.

Training will be provided on company procedures, safety requirements, equipment, sandblasting, painting, and coating processes. Previous experience in construction, industrial painting, sandblasting, or mechanics is a plus, but training is available for candidates who are motivated to learn. Familiarity with OSHA standards is required.

A valid Illinois Non-CDL Class C driver’s license is required. Employees should also have reliable transportation for scheduled shifts. This position includes opportunities for overtime, performance-based pay, and out-of-town travel for certain projects.

Responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

• Work indoors and outdoors at commercial and industrial job sites in various weather conditions.

• Work in confined spaces, at heights, in tanks, vessels, and elevators as required.

• Operate sandblasting, painting, and other industrial equipment after training.

• Prepare steel, concrete, equipment, and other surfaces by removing rust, corrosion, old coatings, dirt, and other contaminants.

• Set up and move blasting equipment, hoses, containment systems, scaffolding, and other job-site equipment.

• Mix and match paint and coatings according to project specifications.

• Apply primers, paints, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and other tools.

• Fill holes and cracks with putty and sand surfaces as needed before coating.

• Cover and protect floors, fixtures, equipment, furniture, and surrounding areas before painting.

• Handle paints, coatings, solvents, chemicals, and hazardous materials according to safety procedures.

• Wear required personal protective equipment and follow OSHA, company, and job-site safety requirements.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area and report safety concerns or equipment issues to a supervisor.

• Follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and clients.

• Communicate with clients when needed to understand project needs and provide the appropriate approach.

• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.

• Lift, carry, and move materials, tools, hoses, and equipment weighing 100 pounds or more.

• Work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as project schedules require.

• Travel outside the Chicago area as needed. Transportation, lodging, and per diem are provided for approved out-of-town projects.

Qualifications & Requirements

• A valid Illinois Non-CDL Class C Driver’s License and reliable transportation for scheduled shifts are required.

• A GED or higher is required.

• Forklift and Bobcat operating experience is preferred.

• Knowledge of sandblasting, industrial painting, and industrial construction is preferred.

• Experience with industrial sandblasting, industrial coatings, or commercial painting is preferred.

• Two or more years of relevant work experience and completion of an apprenticeship are preferred, but not required.

• Basic knowledge of painting materials, tools, and equipment is preferred. Training will be provided.

• Experience using hand tools and power tools is preferred.

• Ability to learn and safely operate sandblasting, painting, and other industrial equipment.

• Successful completion of a drug screening is required during the onboarding process.

• A background check is required.

• Strong time management and communication skills are required.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

• Ability to work independently and stay focused while completing assigned tasks.

• Ability to pay close attention to job requirements, safety procedures, and instructions.

• Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
