Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Scientist to lead complex data science initiatives and deliver advanced analytics that support data-driven business decisions within a large healthcare organization.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, SQL, predictive analytics, and data visualization, along with the ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead high-priority and complex data science projects that impact organizational strategy and operations.
- Analyze structured, unstructured, large, and incomplete datasets using advanced statistical and analytical techniques.
- Develop and maintain custom data models, algorithms, and predictive models.
- Apply machine learning techniques including clustering, decision trees, neural networks, regression, and other advanced methodologies.
- Perform statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, forecasting, pattern analysis, and data mining.
- Evaluate model performance and goodness of fit.
- Identify and resolve complex data-quality and data-management issues.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and define analytical solutions.
- Translate complex data and analytical results into clear, actionable insights for business and leadership teams.
- Present findings to technical, non-technical, and executive-level stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentorship to other data scientists.
- Support evaluation of data science vendors, tools, and technologies.
- Manage multiple projects independently while meeting deadlines and business objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related STEM field.
- 7+ years of data science experience.
- Strong experience with advanced statistical techniques and machine learning.
- Advanced SQL/database management skills.
- Strong programming and statistical analysis skills.
- Experience with data science project lifecycle and model development.
- Experience working with large, complex, and incomplete datasets.
- Strong analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to translate complex analytical findings into meaningful business recommendations.
- Comfortable presenting data insights to senior and executive-level leadership.
- Strong project management skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within a hospital or healthcare environment.
- Experience with medical informatics, EHR data, healthcare IT, finance, or revenue-cycle data.
- Master's degree in Data Science.
- Experience developing predictive models and advanced analytics for healthcare/business operations.
