Interventional Radiology Technologist Job Description Job Title Interventional Radiology Technologist Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist for a 12-week contract assignment in Columbia, Missouri. This role involves performing and assisting with a wide range of minimally invasive, image-guided procedures in both routine and emergency settings within a dynamic healthcare environment, specializing in special procedures. The successful candidate will play a critical role in direct patient care, working closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals. Key responsibilities include preparing and screening patients, operating specialized imaging equipment, and ensuring patient safety throughout complex procedures, with a specific focus on neuro IR cases, including stroke interventions, and GI embolization procedures. Key Responsibilities Perform and assist with minimally invasive, image-guided interventional radiology procedures. Prepare and screen patients thoroughly before procedures, ensuring all necessary protocols are followed. Maintain a strict sterile environment throughout all procedures. Operate specialized imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy and angiography systems, with precision. Monitor patients continuously during procedures, recognizing and responding to changes in patient status. Administer contrast media under the direct supervision of a radiologist. Manage and maintain inventory of supplies and ensure accurate documentation of procedures and patient information. Ensure strict adherence to radiation safety protocols and overall patient safety standards. Respond effectively to emergency situations, particularly in neuro IR cases such as acute strokes. Collaborate effectively with radiologists, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team. May assist with the training and supervision of students and contribute to other imaging modalities like X-ray as needed. Required Qualifications Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist. Demonstrated expertise and experience with neuro interventional radiology (IR) cases, including acute stroke interventions. Demonstrated expertise and experience with GI embolization cases. Exceptional understanding and application of sterile technique and infection control practices. Strong patient assessment and monitoring skills, with the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Comprehensive knowledge of radiation safety principles and practices, including ALARA. Competence in the safe and effective administration of contrast media. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
