Regional Director Of Therapy Services

The Regional Director of Therapy Services (RDOT) is an exempt leadership position employed by Cambridge Healthcare Services and responsible for the regional oversight, performance optimization, and continuous improvement of rehabilitation services across assigned Cambridge-affiliated skilled nursing facilities.

The primary and most significant duties of this role include the exercise of independent clinical and operational judgment; strategic oversight of therapy performance; analysis of financial, clinical, and compliance data; and the consultation, mentoring, and performance oversight of facility-based Directors of Rehabilitation (DORs).

The RDOT serves as a regional consultant and provides dotted-line oversight to Directors of Rehabilitation within assigned facilities. While this position does not hold direct hire or termination authority over facility-based therapy staff, all therapy performance expectations including clinical quality, regulatory compliance, staffing effectiveness, financial stewardship, documentation integrity, and ethical practice fall within the RDOT's scope of responsibility.

This position requires advanced knowledge in a recognized healthcare profession, customarily acquired through prolonged specialized instruction and state licensure, combined with operational leadership expertise. The RDOT's role is fundamentally administrative and professional in nature and centers on the consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment in matters of significance affecting multiple facilities.

The Regional Director of Therapy Services will lead and serve with heart, ensuring that therapy services reflect Cambridge's mission:

To be the premier provider and employer by doing the right thing.

The RDOT will embody and reinforce Cambridge's core values:

  • Compassion Lead and serve with heart, treating residents, families, and colleagues with dignity and respect.

  • Integrity Embrace honesty, accountability, and mutual respect while ensuring ethical clinical and billing practices.

  • Curiosity Inspire learning, innovation, and continuous improvement across all therapy operations.

Leadership and Performance Accountability

Provide dotted-line oversight and professional guidance to Directors of Rehabilitation across assigned facilities.

Establish clear expectations for therapy performance and operational standards.

Conduct routine regional meetings to review key performance indicators, regulatory updates, and operational priorities.

Collaborate with facility Administrators and regional operational leaders to align therapy strategy with overall facility objectives.

Provide performance input and recommendations to the Vice President of Ancillary Services and facility leadership regarding DOR effectiveness and departmental performance.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

Ensure rehabilitation services across assigned facilities maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Monitor documentation practices to ensure services reflect medical necessity, accurate coding, proper authentication, and timeliness.

Support audit preparedness and mitigate regulatory and reimbursement risk.

Ensure completion of required screenings, evaluations, and compliance processes in accordance with company standards.

Participate in survey processes and serve as a regional subject-matter expert for therapy services when required.

Operational and Resource Management

Promote efficient and appropriate use of therapy staffing and resources across facilities.

Guide DORs in aligning staffing levels with census, acuity, and budget expectations.

Identify operational efficiencies while maintaining clinical quality and regulatory compliance.

Support implementation and optimization of therapy systems, dashboards, and electronic medical record platforms.

Participate in annual planning, budget development, and strategic initiatives related to therapy services.
