Software Engineer

Salary: $85,000 - 150,000 per year

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related computer engineering discipline.
• We welcome new graduates as well as candidates with varying levels of professional software engineering experience.
• Prior experience in software engineering.
• Experience with data visualization tools or libraries.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with object-oriented software development.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with unit testing tools and testing methodologies.
• Experience working with Linux operating systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong planning and capacity management experience in a hands-on environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
• For senior-level candidates: experience building and sustaining strong relationships with R&D customers while supporting business growth efforts.
• For senior-level candidates: prior experience leading cross-functional project teams and delivering projects successfully.
• Preferred: masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Preferred: 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Preferred: experience with relational SQL databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Preferred: strong knowledge of Python and common data science or ML packages such as NumPy and PyTorch.
• Preferred: experience or knowledge of machine learning and machine learning pipelines.

• Preferred: ability to understand requirements for designing or transitioning software in a production environment.
• Preferred: ability to quickly ramp up on different algorithms.
• Preferred: familiarity with geospatial standards, GIS applications, or geospatial data formats such as GeoJSON, KML, and Shapefiles.
• Preferred: strong knowledge of C++, GPUs, and other embedded hardware.
• Preferred: experience with web development and common frameworks such as React and TypeScript.
• Preferred: knowledge and experience with WebGL, Web Map Service (WMS), and RESTful interfaces.

• Preferred: experience scaling algorithms for high-performance environments such as Cloud or DSRC.

Responsibilities:

• Write efficient, modular, and well-documented code.
• Work closely with machine learning scientists and engineers developing data analytics tools.
• Create customized toolsets that speed up machine learning data curation and quality control, including machine-assisted labeling and quality checks.
• Develop dependable machine learning pipelines to support research, training, evaluation, and deployment.
• Build visualizations for complex numerical and scientific data.
• Develop signal processing chains and algorithms to process large sensor data volumes with near real-time result availability.
• Design and implement optimized low-level code on embedded hardware.
• Design and implement end-user applications that leverage machine learning algorithms.
• Build and deploy machine learning and computer vision systems for analysts.
• Architect user interfaces and APIs for sensor simulation, exploitation, and analytics.
• Identify architectures and toolsets that support implementation design and throughput optimization.
• Develop database schemas and application interfaces to scale solutions in high-performance computing environments.
• Help monitor and guide project schedules, resources, and costs.
• Report software development status and demonstrate software to customers.
• Build and maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines across multiple projects.
